Ancient poetry is an important part of language teaching in junior secondary schools,and its subtle and timeless language,its meaningful context,and its rich cultural connotations play an important role in enhancing students' core literacy.However,the current classroom teaching of ancient poetry still faces many practical problems: teachers focus on the cultivation of students' test-taking ability,explaining too much and neglecting students' independent thinking,which hinders the development of students' emotional experience and the enhancement of their thinking quality.This,coupled with the fixed teaching process,has led to a lack of in-depth interpretation of the poems by teachers and students,and the teaching of ancient poetry in general is characterised by a superficial teaching that focuses too much on surface knowledge and neglects the construction of deeper meaning.In recent years,deep learning theory has been gradually applied to the field of education as an efficient teaching method and learning approach to improve the problem of superficiality in teaching.It emphasises students' active participation,critical understanding and the integration and transfer of what they have learnt,in order to construct their own unique knowledge system and enhance their own higher-order thinking.Since 2014,the Ministry of Education has arranged for experts,scholars and senior teachers to conduct research on deep learning teaching projects,with a view to solving problems in teaching and learning,so as to achieve higher quality teaching and learning.Therefore,the author believes that combining deep learning theory with ancient poetry in junior high school is of great value in improving the quality of teaching ancient poetry.This paper consists of five main parts: the introductory part firstly gives a brief introduction to the background of the chosen topic;secondly,it points out that this study is of great significance in updating teachers' concepts,motivating students to learn,improving the quality of teaching ancient poetry and implementing the core literacy objectives;thirdly,it compares and summarises relevant studies at home and abroad,and gives a brief review;finally,it indicates the main content of this paper and the research methods adopted.The first chapter firstly discusses the connotation and characteristics of deep learning,and then elaborates on the practical significance of integrating deep learning theory into the teaching of ancient poetry in junior high school,mainly from three aspects: feasibility,necessity and importance.The second chapter is a survey of the current situation of teaching ancient poetry in junior high school.Through the distribution of questionnaires and interviews with teachers,it is found that the teaching of ancient poetry in junior high schools as a whole is characterised by superficiality,with the main problems being inappropriate positioning of teaching objectives and lack of in-depth understanding by students;fragmented teaching content and lack of knowledge construction;and rigid teaching processes and lack of higher-order thinking cultivation,and the causes of the problems are analysed.Chapter 3 uses deep learning as a theoretical basis to propose strategies for teaching ancient poetry in junior high school.In response to the problems of teaching ancient poetry,suggestions for implementation are put forward in three stages: preparation,implementation,and summary and reflection,including setting higher-order teaching objectives,integrating teaching content,creating teaching contexts,focusing on transfer and application,and paying attention to evaluation and reflection.The fourth chapter is a review of excellent teaching examples,combining in-depth learning theory with a detailed evaluation of the excellent lesson example,"White Snow Song Sends the Judge Wu Back to the Capital",and making personal suggestions with a view to providing reference for front-line language teachers.
