The interdisciplinary writing movement,originated in the American education system,has become the educational paradigm in today’s world.RAFT(Role,Audience,Format,Topic)is an interdisciplinary writing teaching system,which is used to guide high school students to understand the purpose of writing based on authorship from the four dimensions of RAFT,and recognize how to clearly convey ideas from the reader’s perspective.Based on China’s current education system for junior high schools,biology is not a required subject in the high school entrance examination.Hence,to a certain extent,there are several problems in biology courses,including that teachers and students are not paying attention to this course,and the teaching quality is unstable.Through the biological interdisciplinary RAFT writing process,teachers can guide students to combine their previous life experience,stimulate students’ learning initiative,and make them have a stronger interest in biology.Therefore,research in the teaching methodologies of interdisciplinary RAFT writing in biology would be a meaningful attempt in the trend of curriculum reform.Based on consulting many interdisciplinary teaching and RAFT writing-related papers,this research uses literature analysis,questionnaire surveys,teacher interviews and other research approaches to understand the teaching outcomes and difficulties during the process of interdisciplinary RAFT writing in junior high school biology courses.Specifically,we compared the mid-term and final results of the two experimental classes in Heiziwei Middle School that implemented biological RAFT writing and the two control classes that gave regular lectures.The results show that the improvement in academic performance,learning interest and initiative in biology were significantly improved in the experimental group,which indicated an optimized teaching efficiency and learning outcome.This research shows that the application of interdisciplinary RAFT writing in junior high school biology classes can significantly improve the teaching quality.Based on this improvement effect,this research is expected to provide a positive case for biology teachers in high schools to improve their teaching qualities.
