An Action Research On Cultivation Of Pupils’ Mathematical Operational Symbol Awareness In The Teaching Of Operation Of Numbers In Primary School

Cultivation of mathematical operation symbol awareness is an important task in mathematics education.In primary school,the teaching of operation of numbers can effectively achieve the objective of cultivating pupils’ mathematical operation symbol awareness.This study is an action research on the cultivation of pupils’ mathematical operation symbol awareness in the teaching of operation of numbers in primary school.Firstly,a research design is created based on the research task and research objective.The research design includes two main aspects as following: the first is the target object of the action research,including the analysis of the pupils’ situation,the analysis of the research site,the participants and teaching contents;the second is the action research idea,including the preparation stage,the implementation stage and the post-implementation stage.Secondly,the action is implemented based on the research design and from two aspects.The first round of action research is carried out taking “Preliminary Understanding of Multiplication” as an example,which includes the action plan,action implementation,peer evaluation,examination of the effectiveness of the first round of action research,and reflection on teaching and improvement;the second round of action research takes “Preliminary Understanding of Division” as an example,which includes the action plan,action implementation,peer evaluation,examination of the effectiveness of the second round of action research,and reflection on teaching and improvement.Finally,the research findings are presented while action suggestions are put forward.The research findings mainly include: it is feasible for pupils to cultivate the awareness of mathematical operation symbols in operation teaching;cultivate the abstraction of mathematical operation symbols through observation,operation and analogy;cultivate the recognition of mathematical operation symbols through contrast,demonstration,operation and transformation;cultivate the application of mathematical operation symbols through " group work before individual work" and "four step method".Action suggestions mainly include: teachers should improve the level of symbol awareness in mathematical operation,carefully design and deeply reflect on the teaching of symbol awareness in mathematical operation,and choose the ways and activities suitable for the cultivation of symbol awareness in mathematical operation.
