Practical Research On The Mental Needs Of The Elderly In The Post-epidemic Era Of Group Work Intervention

After the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pneumonia,various localities adopted epidemic prevention and control mechanisms,group work in my country ’ s social work services cannot be carried out.Under these circumstances,taking into account the continuity of services and the development of network technology,science and technology can meet the requirements of group work.From the perspective of social work,From the perspective of social work,the author uses group work methods to intervene in the mental needs of the elderly,explores the necessity and feasibility of conducting online group work.So as to solve the problems of the spiritual needs of the elderly in the post-epidemic era,and promote the mental health of the elderly.This research takes the D community home seniors as the research object,through the literature research method,we understand the research status of meeting the spiritual needs of the elderly at home and abroad,analyzed the necessity and feasibility of the spiritual needs of the elderly in the epidemic era after the intervention of group work.Through questionnaire survey method and interview method,the status quo analysis and needs assessment of the elderly in the community were carried out.Studies have found that in the post-epidemic era,the elderly’s activities are restricted,group activities are forced to stop,and lifestyles have undergone tremendous changes,resulting in a huge psychological gap,the elderly ’ s psychological stress ability has weakened,and their emotional and learning needs have become more intense.Elderly people generally suffer from lack of communication with relatives and friends,limited social interaction,inability to carry out cultural and entertainment activities,lack of platforms and opportunities to continue learning,long-term living at home,and inability to realize their own values.The material needs of the elderly are fully guaranteed during the isolation life at home,but the spiritual needs such as emotional needs,interpersonal communication needs,cultural and entertainment needs,continuing learning needs,and self-realization needs are not met.After analysis found there are five main reasons for the spiritual needs of the elderly.One is the subjective reasons of the elderly themselves,and the other is the objective reasons such as family,community,social work,and society.Guided by the hierarchy of needs theory,activity theory,and social learning theory,the author conducts group services based on the current spiritual needs of the elderly in the D community,and meets the spiritual needs of the elderly in the D community in the post-epidemic era through the intervention of group work.After six group activities,the author conducted process evaluation and result evaluation of the group work,and found that after the group members participated in the group activities,their spiritual needs were basically met,their spiritual life was enriched,and their mental state was also positively changed.The problem of the spiritual needs of the elderly is a problem that needs our long-term attention and resolution.Only short-term group activities can only meet part of the spiritual needs of the elderly,but cannot fully meet all the spiritual needs.Therefore,to effectively and gradually solve the problem of the spiritual needs of the elderly,the joint efforts of the elderly themselves,their families,communities,social work and society are needed.
