| China has a large number of rural left-behind children in China.The Women’s Federation,the Ministry of Civil Affairs,the Ministry of Rural Agriculture and other departments have issued relevant documents requiring the implementation of the care of left-behind children in rural areas.Left-behind children in rural areas cannot live with their parents,which leads to the weakening of family and parents.Meanwhile,the transfer of guardianship function may also lead to children’s in-adaptation.Emotional problems are one of the main psychological problems faced by rural left-behind children.They often lack the knowledge and skills of emotional management,which also affects their social interactions,often be excluded from peer groups,and even become the object of bullying.In this study,the rural left-behind children in SQ Town,Jingmen City,Hubei Province,investigated the social and emotional ability level of 117 children in the town by questionnaire.The survey results show that the scores of rural left-behind children in this town are significantly lower than those of non-left-behind children in all dimensions,and this group has the potential demand of improving social emotional ability.According to the survey results,15 rural left-behind children with low scores were selected as interviewees,and 8 children with typical needs were recruited as team members according to voluntary principles.Guided by the theory of social emotion learning and energy enhancement,the group focuses on the five abilities of children’s self-cognition,self-management,social cognition,interpersonal communication and responsible decision-making.There are eight sections of group activities,in which the first to third sections develop the emotional ability of emotional recognition,emotional expression and emotional management;the fourth group activity guides the team members to establish positive self-cognition;the fifth group activities learn the communication skills through story reading and role playing to improve the social cognitive ability and interpersonal skills;and the sixth to improves children’s self-management ability and responsible decision ability by leading the group members to stimulate their thinking potential and learn management goal-making skills.The evaluation results showed that the group was very effective,and the social and emotional ability of the group members had been improved to varying degrees during the group process.Members generally have a more positive self-awareness,and their social cognition level,social status,self-management ability and responsible decision-making ability are also significantly improved.In this study,the following conclusions are drawn: left-behind children in rural areas need to improve their social and emotional ability,so it is necessary to establish a more positive self-cognition,enhance their understanding of others,improve their social conditions,and strengthen their self-management ability and responsible decision-making ability.This study also found that the energy enhancement theory can provide effective guidance for the group work method to intervene in the improvement of the social and emotional ability of rural left-behind children,and the concept of advantage focus and potential exploration can effectively promote the realization of the goal of the social and emotional ability intervention group of rural left-behind children. |
