Medically,first-time mothers are those who give birth after 28 weeks of their first pregnancy, and the rural first-time mothers in this study are adult married women whose household registration and current residence are both rural and who give birth for the first time and have children under the age of two and a half. With the advent of the great health era,the concern for maternal mother has not only been limited to physical rehabilitation, but gradually extended from physical rehabilitation to the perspective of physical-psychological-social health.Based on the Chongqing YG Social Work Service Center, this study based on the practice of rural anti-poverty social work services carried out in J Township,County C,Chongqing, from 2019 to 2020,obtained first-hand information through in-depth interviews, participation observation, action practices and other specific research methods to carry out demand research and social work service practices for 7 rural primary mothers between the ages of 22-36 in J Township.Guided by the theory of mother’s role, through investigation,it is found that, subject to the constraints of economy and cultural level, the primary mother’s physical and mental quality is low,the external system support is relatively inadequate and the influence of rural social traditional concept is far-reaching,the rural first-time mother is facing greater pressure in the adaptation of the role of the mother after childbirth, which is manifested in the lack of mother’s role cognition, the mother’s character’s emotional loss, the mother’s role behavior deviation, the mother’s role effectiveness is low,and the general learning of scientific parenting knowledge, improve the newborn nursing skills. To enhance parent-child communication and interaction, improve self-efficacy and other needs to improve the post-partum mother role adaptability.Based on this, the project team will launch the first maternal mutual assistance support group in July-September 2020 based on the group working method as the intervention strategy, the social support theory and the social learning theory, and the group interaction model.Through the six previous group activities, social workers play the role of service providers, organizers, educators, advocates, resource linkers and so on,providing new mothers with knowledge empowerment, skills learning, peer communication, platform building and other services.Through scientific assessment,it is proved that the social working group method can effectively strengthen the mastery of the scientific knowledge of newborn physical and mental development of rural first-time mothers, enhance their skills in newborn care, increase the communication support of peer groups, reduce the conflict and pressure brought about by role change, and effectively improve the adaptation of the role of mothers of rural first-time mothers.
