In the eighth curriculum reform of basic education launched in 2001,it is emphasized to cultivate students' ability to solve mathematical problems,which is an ability that must be mastered in the learning process.In the "Compulsory Education Mathematics Curriculum Standards(2011 Edition)","problem solving" has already become one of the goals of mathematics curriculum.Therefore,it is necessary to investigate the mathematical problem solving ability of junior high school students.Research contents :(1)To compile a test volume with good reliability and validity.(2)Investigate the current situation and existing problems of junior high school students' mathematical problem solving ability.(3)Reasons for the problems existing in junior high school students' mathematical problem solving ability.(4)Suggestions on cultivating junior high school students' mathematical problem solving ability are put forward according to the specific reasons.This study mainly uses literature method and investigation method.First of all,the relevant literature was sorted out and summarized,the research status of mathematical problem solving test was summarized,the concepts of mathematical problems were defined,and the test paper was compiled under the guidance of experts and front-line teachers to test the reliability and validity by combining the curriculum standard,PISA and pedagogy theory.Next,a test was conducted on the ninth grade students of a junior middle school in S City to investigate the current situation and existing problems of junior middle school students' mathematical problem solving ability,and to analyze the gender difference.In view of the problems existing in the current situation,interviews with students and teachers to analyze the causes of their emergence.Finally,according to the specific reasons,the cultivation suggestions are put forward.Research conclusions:(1)Current situation and existing problems of junior high school students' mathematical problem solving ability: the average level of junior high school students' mathematical problem solving ability is between level 1 and level 2 in mathematics and algebra,graphics and geometry,statistics and probability.The ability to solve mathematical problems is below the medium level,and some students fail to meet the requirements.In the part of graphics and geometry,the gender difference of mathematical problem solving ability is significant,and the male students are better than the female students.(2)Reasons for the problems in junior middle school students' mathematical problem-solving ability: students do not pay attention to the generation process of knowledge,which is not conducive to the comprehensive application of mathematical knowledge;Students do not pay attention to the management of wrong questions;Students seldom use mind mapping and other auxiliary learning methods,which affect their learning of mathematical knowledge structure;Some students' mathematical thinking is too rigid,and they are not good at finding problems.Cultivation suggestions :(1)pay attention to the process of knowledge generation;(2)improve the wrong question management system;(3)clever use of mind mapping;(4)Cultivate the ability to find problems.
