The Chinese teachers in primary and secondary schools in the Republic of China,like the contemporary Chinese teachers,shoulder the mission of inheriting Chinese traditional culture.The previous studies on the teachers of Chinese culture in the Republic of China were based on the teaching skills and methods of famous teachers,or from the political perspective,to explore the policies and systems of the teachers at that time.For the common teachers of Chinese culture who are unknown and their daily images in public vision,there is still no necessary discussion.Under the influence of the new thoughts of"May 4th New Culture Movement",Chinese teachers are often regarded as the representatives of the old culture and the old society,and become the critical object of the times trend.Therefore,in the historical narration of cultural innovation,"old winter drying"and "old decay" are adjectives often accompanied by Chinese teachers.The image of the Chinese language teachers reported in the newspapers and magazines of the Republic of China is mostly of this kind.In this perspective,the Chinese language teachers are old,old-fashioned,lack of new knowledge,and rigid teaching.They are simple,powerless and do not want to teach new knowledge,keep the old,and pay attention to the students' rote memorization of the old knowledge.However,the big data information in the relevant newspaper advertisements reflects the image of the Chinese language teacher in the Republic of China which is opposite to the above.In the 17 years after the May 4th movement,in the view of the common people represented by schools and families,the ideal Chinese language teacher should be an old and experienced person who is proficient in the old school,rather than the new youth respected by the May 4th movement.People generally want the old people with profound learning skills and rich teaching experience to teach Chinese.This undoubtedly shows that the Chinese teachers in the public opinion of the newspapers and magazines of the Republic of China have two opposite images,one is in line with the trend of the May Fourth Era and the other is different from the trend of the May Fourth Era.The former is the image of the Chinese language teacher,which reflects the revolutionary voice of the people.This call sets the teachers of Chinese culture as the opposite typical,and its purpose is to break the shackles of old ideas and old culture and realize the cultural revolution.The latter is the ideal image of the Chinese language teacher,which reflects the real needs of the people.Although it has become a means for the general public to call for Cultural Revolution by overthrowing the Chinese teachers in an all-round way to extend the new culture.But facing the reality,the people have to put down the revolutionary ideals of the distant,looking for the traditional sense can truly preach and teach the Chinese language teachers.The image tearing in the public opinion of the press greatly presents the dilemma of the group of Chinese teachers in the period of the Republic of China,and also reflects the tension and limit of the May fourth revolution trend.More importantly,this complex image provides a reference for how to hold the official public opinion,stick to their own points and establish a good image of teachers.
