The employment situation in China is currently facing severe tests.Under the pressure of China’s current economic downturn and structural transformation and adjustment,if both stable growth and stable employment are to be grasped at the same time, the important role of small and micro enterprises in the growth of the real economy must not be ignored. In particular, new entrepreneurial small and micro enterprises composed of families. On the one hand, such enterprises can ensure a certain degree of labor force employment in the region, and on the other hand, they can make full use of the surplus rural labor force and improve efficiency.According to sample data statistics, the incidence of family entrepreneurship is only 13.4%,which shows that China’s family entrepreneurship activity is still at a low level and there is a significant difference in entrepreneurial choice between urban and rural areas. In 1982,China officially implemented the family planning policy to encourage a couple to have only one child. However, the traditional concept of "dominating boys over girls" still prevails in our country,so some families will artificially choose the sex of their children. The social and cultural background coupled with the use of modern medical technology(B-ultrasound)has led to a serious imbalance in the sex ratio of the population. From 2011 to 2017,the sex ratio at birth in China remained high, and the sex ratio at birth was consistently higher than 114.Gender imbalance has led to a serious imbalance between the ratio of men and women in the marriage market, and women in marriage have become the market’s main source of dwell able goods in the marriage market. In the fierce competition of the matchmaking market,in order to find a partner as soon as possible, the man will strive to continuously improve his resource endowment advantages, such as building more stylish houses, owning houses in cities, giving more gifts, and purchasing high-end consumer goods.Owning a house in the city and being able to give high gifts have become an important manifestation of the man’s competitiveness in the marriage market. The stronger the man’s competitiveness, the greater the probability that the man will succeed in marriage in the marriage market. However, with the rapid rise in house prices and high gift prices, the man and his family have suffered a huge economic burden. In order to improve the future competitiveness of their son in the marriage market, parents with underage sons will inevitably hope to earn a higher income,so they will engage in higher-paying jobs and work harder.Compared with traditional occupations, entrepreneurship has the characteristics of high risk and high return. In the current academic research, more scholars focus on entrepreneurship, but few scholars conduct research from the perspective of family entrepreneurship.Existing related studies will consider more: social capital, financing constraints, education level, etc. There is relatively little literature on the impact of children on family entrepreneurship. This article uses the nationally representative Chinese Family Tracking Survey Data(CFPS)to study the marriage market is squeezed in the context of gender imbalances, navigable men and male families are facing tremendous economic pressure, the number of sons in the family, and whether there are Whether the son has an impact on family entrepreneurship decisions. The conclusions show that under the control of the number of children, the probability that families with more boys choose to start a business is significantly higher. There is heterogeneity in the impact of the number of boys on family entrepreneurship decisions. This heterogeneity is mainly reflected in the gender of the head of the household, the differences between urban and rural areas, the age of the children, and the size of the family. The number of boys in male-headed households has a more significant impact on family entrepreneurship decisions, while femaleheaded households consider more the number of children than the number of boys when deciding whether to start a business;the number of boys in urban households after controlling the number of children Family entrepreneurship decisions have a significant positive impact. The number of boys and children in rural households has no significant effect on family entrepreneurship decisions. The entrepreneurial decisions of young children’s families consider more the number of children, but as children age, boys The larger the number of families, the greater the probability of starting a business;the number of boys and children in small and medium-sized families has a significant positive effect on entrepreneurship;the number of boys in large-scale families has a role in promoting entrepreneurial decisions, and the number of children has a role in entrepreneurship Inhibition effect, but the effect is not significant. In addition, this article also discusses the impact of the number of boys on family entrepreneurship decisions. In the traditional Chinese concept of marriage, the marriage house is provided by the male family in most cases. After the implementation of the family planning policy, serious gender imbalances have emerged in our country, which has directly led to increasing pressure on men’s competition in the marriage market.Affordable housing has become the key to whether men can win in the marriage market.Parents with sons are also facing huge economic pressure, which increases the probability of starting a business.Given that gender imbalances and rising house prices will inevitably increase the economic pressure on male families, this study finds that in areas with more severe gender imbalances and higher house prices, the number of boys can prompt families to start businesses.
