House is the most important building for Aini People, and the Aini’s traditionalhouse is a holy union space that humans cohabit with gods, and it is an importantmaterial carrier of Aini’s cultural system. The gender is the particular principles thatAini People used to devise secular space. So, the house not only expressed Aini’soutlook to the world and life, but also explained Aini’s gender consciousness.Aini’s traditional house is the embodiment of power structure. Aini peopleorganize the social life with patriarchal system, the male inheritance the pedigree. In afamily, men get the position and prestige by leads people to build a house, and themen can also performance their talent and male temperament through building ahouse. Aini women’s right is excluded from the traditional cultural system in the fieldof architecture, and the division of labor in the construction process is committed tostrengthen the unequal power structure between men and women. Although everyperson knows how to build and manage a house, but women occupy and consume thehouse space under the arrangement of men. Here, men always the creators andsystematizers and what women should to do is performing the rules correctly. Inhistory, men and women of Aini people own different space in the house, and theybreak into other’s sites if necessary. Even the arrange of infrastructures are based onthe gender differences of space.There are many reasons like technical progress and government interference leadto changes of house style. But what make most contribution to the changes is thatAini people change their idea of family and housespace. New house do not follow theoriginal construct rules very much, and there are different appearance, spatialstructure and facilities in it. The divisions of labor in house building progress havechanged because of professional architect get involved in Aini house’s building, andit makes men and women could make contribution to house building equally withoutrestriction of culture system, and the result is that the power structure of roomoccupying and room consuming showed loosing, men and women use and manage house space more equally. Thanks to the changes of traditional system of house space,Aini women likely to get their own house and space without men control.Aini’s traditional house is a powerful tool designed by dominator, and used toregulate community members’ relationship and behavior. But manage rules andstandard systems have loosened with the changes of house style, and transformationsof power structure followed. Strongly affected by modern lifestyle and modern livingmode, the Aini people’s gender power structure is approach to the mainstream ofsocial gender consciousness.
