Classical Chinese teaching plays a key role in junior Chinese teaching.Especially in the Compulsory education Chinese curriculum standard(2011 Edition),14 recommended recitations have been added from Grade 7 to grade 9,which undoubtedly puts forward new requirements for students' classical Chinese literacy. Therefore,Chinese teachers should pay attention to classical Chinese teaching. However, based on the reality of exam oriented, many teachers only pay attention to word translation and text analysis, ignoring the traditional cultural connotation of classical Chinese and the cultivation of students' classical Chinese literacy. Therefore, this teaching mode of classical Chinese with teachers' indoctrination needs reform and innovation. As an important part of Chinese teaching, reading teaching aims to train students to use reading methods and skills skillfully, realize the beauty of language and connotation, form a good sense of language and develop thinking ability.Especially in classical Chinese teaching,it plays an important role in classical Chinese teaching. This paper mainly explores the role of reading in the teaching of classical Chinese in junior middle school. The basis of this study is a teaching practice, with action research as the main research method. The preparation stage is mainly an exploration stage. In the improvement and application stage, each stage includes the implementation stage and summary reflection. In order to show the whole process of action research, there is a typical teaching case in each research stage to explain the experiment in this stage. These three research stages are the key content of this study. In this study,98 students from two classes in Grade 8 of B school in a city of Jiangsu Province were taken as the research objects, which lasted for four months. In order to know the students' learning situation of classical Chinese,we first tested them and pre tested the questionnaire. The questionnaire explored the students' ability of classical Chinese from three aspects: reading interest, reading strategy and text understanding ability. We found that their reading ability of classical Chinese needs to be strengthened, and did not meet the requirements of compulsory curriculum standards.By analyzing the current situation of reading teaching, this paper discusses the necessity of using reading in classical Chinese teaching. In order to improve the classical Chinese level of the students in the experimental class, reading was used to teachthe students in the experimental class and constantly improved in the whole process to get better experimental results. At the end of the experiment, the students of the two classes were tested by questionnaire and classical Chinese scores, and the relevant data collected during the experiment were collected, compared and analyzed,so as to draw the experimental conclusion. In this study, the method of reading aloud is applied to classical Chinese teaching in junior middle school. After a semester of teaching experiment, the data of questionnaire and achievement test in the research process are statistically analyzed.SPSS 21.0 statistical tool is used to analyze the data produced in the experiment.By comparing the results of the two classes, this paper discusses whether reading aloud teaching method can improve students' reading and understanding of classical Chinese.Through the analysis of two class questionnaires, this paper discusses whether reading can improve students' interest in learning classical Chinese, deepen students' understanding of classical Chinese text, and enable to gain more learning skills in the process of reading and learning classical Chinese,so as to improve students' Chinese learning ability.
