In the pursuit of harmonious coexistence and sustainable development between man and nature,STSE(short for science,technology,society and environment)is a new education mode.It pays attention to the connection between subject knowledge and science,technology,society and environment,encourages students to apply knowledge investigation activities,analyze and solve practical problems,and its thought conforms to the needs of social development,which has become a hot spot of educational reform in various countries.Biology as a natural discipline,has a rich knowledge system and is closely related to social life,which provides a solid foundation for the implementation of STSE education.Moreover,The Curriculum Standard of Biology in Compulsory Education emphasizes the application of biotechnology in production and life,guides students to pay attention to the relationship between human beings and biosphere,and lays stress on the cultivation of students' environmental awareness,scientific quality and social responsibility,which is consistent with the educational concept of STSE.Therefore,it is imperative to implement STSE education in middle school biology teaching.This study mainly studies the STSE education in junior high school biology teaching.Through investigation,interview and other methods,the author first analyzes the application of STSE in junior high school biology teaching and the content of STSE in teaching materials.It was found that: students had high interest but lacked awareness of the close connection between knowledge and science,technology and environment;Teachers have a high degree of identification with STSE,but most of their understanding of this educational concept stays on the surface;School education resources are uneven,and the cultivation of biology teachers' professional quality is still lacking.In the content of the textbook,the presentation of STSE in the textbook is diversified and rich.Based on the investigation of the current situation and the research of the teaching materials,and according to the principles of systematicness,objectivity and openness of STSE education,this article discusses how to effectively apply this education model,and puts forward the ways and strategies of implementing STSE education in junior high school biology teaching.Under this premise,the author uses STSE teaching strategies to design teaching in own practice school,formulates teaching cases,and conducts research on STSE teaching practices.The results show that compared with the conventional education model,STSE education not only promotes the improvement of student performance,but also stimulates students' interest in learning,improve students' ability to practice,handle information,and solve practical problems to varying degrees.It helps to strengthen the sense of responsibility and social awareness of students,and achieve the all-round development of students.This is also complementary to the improvement of academic performance.The research results provide reference for the theory and practice of STSE.
