Due to the restriction of multiple factors such as the regional environment,the imbalance of education between urban and rural areas has been caused.In the face of the new challenges of education development,it is an important task to improve the professional development level of rural teachers.This paper was conducted a questionnaire survey among 347 in-service teachers from 9 rural middle schools in Q county S city.Some leaders of education administrative departments,principals and teachers were interviewed.We find the practical dilemma of the professional development of rural middle school teachers : weak professional concepts recognition;fuzzy ethics consciousness;unbalanced professional knowledge structure;slow improvement of professional ability;the dilemma of disharmony between teachers and the professional development environment.After further analyzing the reasons,the author puts forward some suggestions to optimize the professional development of teachers in rural middle schools: the administrative department of education strengthen the propaganda of teachers' rights,improve teachers' professional identity,and promote the rationalization of the allocation of educational resources;schools carry out the concept of tripartite win-win,build a learning community for teachers,innovate research and training evaluation activities,and carry out developmental evaluation;rural middle school teachers uphold rigorous professional attitude,control appropriate professional scale,dig solid professional depth,and broaden diverse professional breadth.
