Teacher image is the general impression that individual or group of teachers convey to the society,which has become a hot topic of education research in recent years.Female teachers occupy half of the teacher team,and they become "public issues in the social structure".What is the image of female teachers? Has the image of female teachers changed in the current of the times? How has it changed? Why has it changed? This series of questions led me to turn my perspective to educational films.Movies are an important way to record history.Some classic screen images are left in every era.Educational films provide many vivid images of female teachers for this article.Through the in-depth analysis of the image of female teachers in the educational films,it allows us to more clearly understand the changes in the image of female teachers.Therefore,this study selects 29 educational films,starting with the founding of New China,and dividing the research into 4 stages according to social changes: the initial stage of the founding of New China(1949-1965),the Cultural Revolution period(1966-1977),after the reform and opening up(1978-2000)and since the 21 st century(2001-present).there have been several typical films in each period,and the image of female teachers has become the research object of this study.This study further divides female teacher image into physiological image,ability image and moral image.Through the analysis of three images of female teachers in each historical stage,the paper shows the evolution process and characteristics of female teachers’ images.The analysis shows that,firstly,the physiological image of female teachers changes from single to multiple,which is reflected in the age from "mother" to "sister",the dress from "covering" to "prominent",and the physical and mental narrative from "public space" to "private space".Secondly,the image of female teachers’ ability inherits and develops,which is reflected in the era of teaching behavior,while the development is reflected in the change of social status and professional growth.Thirdly,the moral image of female teachers coexists with "change" and "constant".The "change" is that the image orientation of female teachers is gradually transformed from "moral perfection" to "moral ordinary person",while the "constant" is that female teachers are born with maternal and sensitive personality characteristics.From the perspective of the changing course and characteristics of female teachers’ images in educational films,there are some shortcomings in the shaping of female teachers’ images,such as the weakening of the ability image and the upgrading of the moral image.Admittedly,the change of female teacher image is not a simple screen effect,but the result of the comprehensive influence of many factors.The film art has intervened in the construction of female teacher image.First,it has shaped the teacher image through the ideology of the state and the director.Second,in order to meet the market demand,the film has carried the educational function of "Tao".The social development has bred the renewal of female teachers’ image,including the strong intervention of political and economic environment and the influence of educational policies.Cultural ideas guide the shaping of female teachers’ image,which is mainly manifested in the awakening of female subject consciousness and the transformation of cultural values.After having an overall perception of the evolution of female teachers on the screen,we can examine the image of female teachers,which has both the glimmer of human nature and the difficult situation.To answer what the image of female teachers is,we need to turn our perspective to reality again.Based on the reality of the film,it is found that in reality female teachers are subject to the double restriction of professional and administrative,as well as the dilemma of female teachers between career and family.These practical problems enable us to have a deeper understanding of the image of female teachers.Finally,this study provides some suggestions for reshaping the image of female teachers.First of all,the society should positively publicize the image of female teachers,so that "female" can be rooted in the public’s thinking.Secondly,schools should take measures to constantly improve the development of female teachers,so that "women" sprout in the workplace;Moreover,individual female teachers enhance their own advantages,so that "female" blossom.
