Research On Pre-job Training For Volunteer Chinese Teachers In Primary And Secondary Schools In Scotland

Abstract/Summary:
As of the end of December 2016,our country has established 512 Confucius Institutes and 1073 Confucius Classrooms in 140 countries(regions)around the world.With the rapid spread of Chinese,the number of Chinese volunteer teachers has gradually increased.In order to ensure the long-term development of Chinese teaching,we should begin to work hard on the quality of Chinese teachers.This research focuses on the pre-job training of international Chinese language teacher volunteers.This part is closely related to the teaching of Chinese language teacher volunteers overseas,adapting to the current growing demand for international Chinese language teacher volunteer teachers and the trend of ensuring the quality of Chinese language teacher volunteers.With the rapid spread of Chinese overseas,the number of overseas Chinese teachers has gradually increased.Coupled with the implementation of the "1+2"language policy in Scotland,Chinese has been officially listed as the second optional language course.So,more and more students are taking Chinese courses.This research focuses on the pre-job training of international Chinese language teacher volunteers.This part is closely related to the teaching life of Chinese language teacher volunteers overseas.It adapts to the current growing demand for international Chinese language teacher volunteers and the trend of ensuring the quality of Chinese language teacher volunteers.Most volunteer Chinese language teachers are faced with many challenges when they go abroad to teach class.Therefore,in order to improve Chinese language teaching,language skills and cross-cultural communication abilities of Chinese language teacher volunteers,Hanban will carry out a six-week period domestic pre-job training before the volunteer Chinese language teachers go abroad to teach.At the same time,the Confucius Institute for Scotland Primary and Secondary Schools organized a one-week overseas pre-job training to help volunteer Chinese teachers adapt to local teaching and life as soon as possible.The research includes five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,introducing the origin of the research,the significance of the topic,the definition of related concepts,the summary of related research,the main research content and the main research methods.The second chapter is the survey design of the pre-job training of Chinese teacher volunteers going to Scotland primary and secondary schools.At the same time,the current situation of domestic and overseas pre-job training of Chinese teacher volunteers going to Scotland primary and secondary schools is analyzed.Chapters 3 and 4 are the investigation and analysis of the two pre-job training at home and abroad.The fifth chapter mainly analyzes the advantages and shortcomings of pre-job training,puts forward thoughts and suggestions on the two pre-job trainings at home and abroad,and connects the two trainings to make overall thinking and analysis.The conclusion summarizes the research conclusions and research deficiencies of this article.The author concluded that predecessors’ research on the pre-job training of Chinese language teacher volunteers mainly focused on the pre-job training organized by Hanban.At the same time,the research direction mainly focused on the need’ s analysis and problems of pre-job training.However,after the Chinese teacher volunteers took office,they would be being faced a new environment,and there were few studies on the second overseas pre-job training.Therefore,the innovation of this article lies in the combination of domestic pre-job training and overseas pre-job training.Also,a questionnaire for the pre-job training of volunteer Chinese teachers in Scotland primary and secondary schools is designed.After receiving 79 valid questionnaires,they analyzed the real needs of volunteer Chinese teachers in Scotland primary and secondary schools for overseas teaching,then have discovered the advantages and disadvantages of pre-job training and put forward constructive opinions.At the same time,the conclusions reached are based on the combination of theory and practice.Through research,it is found that there are some problems and deficiencies in the domestic and overseas pre-job training for volunteer Chinese teachers in Scotland primary and secondary schools.The main problem of domestic pre-job training is that the pertinence and practicality need to be improved,and the curriculum design training is not enough.The main problems of overseas pre-job training are short time,heavy tasks,and imperfect mentor system.Combining the two pre-job trainings,the investigation and research have given us the following enlightenment:We should use regional advantages in accordance with local conditions,design courses based on the actual needs of Chinese teachers,improve the feedback and mutual evaluation system,and establish and promote a benign Chinese teaching resource sharing platform.It is hoped that this research can provide more ideas for the pre-job training of volunteer Chinese teachers in Scotland primary and secondary schools,improve the current training content,methods and other aspects.In addition,it will also play a role in the training of volunteer Chinese teachers in other countries in the future.
