In recent years,as China’s overall national strength has increased,the spread of China’s national image has increasingly shown great strategic significance.How to actively spread and introduce China to the world and "tell China’s story well" is particularly important.As an important tool for Chinese learners to learn Chinese,international Chinese textbooks are one of the outlets for the spread of China’s national image.Therefore,the image of Chinese characters in textbooks also plays an important role in the shaping and spreading of China’s national image.This paper takes two sets of multimedia resource textbooks which are "Great Wall Chinese"(Essentials in Communication)from the perspective of "self-shaping" and "Encounters,Chinese language and culture"(primary stage)from the perspective of "other-shaping".This article uses the research methods of content comparative analysis,case analysis and multimodal discourse analysis.First of all,the dialogue contents of all the characters are systematically sorted and summarized,then implemented into text to form a micro-database.Then,according to several screening principles such as the character weight,the degree of relevance to the core story,and whether the main character characteristics can be summarized,all Chinese characters appearing in the textbook were screened,and the main research characters of this article were extracted.Finally,starting from the difference between "self-shaping" and "other-shaping",a comparative analysis of the representative images of Chinese characters in the two textbooks was carried out in terms of identity information,appearance design,personality characteristics,ideological concepts,story line series and multimedia presentation methods.This article also analyzes the sibling relationship between Zhang Yuanyuan and Zhang Fangfang in "Great Wall Chinese" and the independent and self-reliant female image "Master Yao" in "Encounters".Through the above research,the success and shortcomings of the two textbooks in shaping Chinese characters are discussed:they are more successful in the overall planning of the image of Chinese characters,the positive design of Chinese characters in multiple dimensions,and the emphasis on the growth of the characters.But there are also some content to be improved:some concepts are out of date and the characterization of characters is not full enough.Furthermore,this article puts forward some suggestions for shaping the image of Chinese characters in international Chinese textbooks:In principle,grasp the macro and make overall plans.In terms of content,it is real and sensible,three-dimensional and full.Telling "Chinese story" from the combination perspective of "self-shaping plus other-shaping".Through innovation and change,technology leading way to present the content.It is hoped that this research will enable more scholars to pay attention to the related issues of character design in the textbooks,help improve the theoretical principles and practical implementation of character design,help editors to compile more high-quality and excellent international Chinese textbooks,and promote Chinese textbooks’ vigorous development in Chinese language globalization. |
