Abstract/Summary:
The textbook of Chinese as a foreign language is a window for Chinese learners to learn Chinese and understand Chinese culture.The effective design of "character images of the textbooks" helps international students understand the image of Chinese nationals,eliminate possible stereotypes,and enhance the ability of cross-cultural communication.Based on the theoretical perspective of cross-cultural communication,this article takes three sets of primary and intermediate-level oral textbooks,namely "Developing Chinese","New Target Spoken Language",and "Mastering Chinese",which are widely used at present,as the research object,comprehensively using literature analysis and comparison.Analytical method and data statistics method extract and analyze the number of Chinese female characters involved in the textbook from the number of characters and the frequency of communication,the background identity of the characters,appearance and personality characteristics,and cross-cultural conflicts.Through the above analysis,we find that there are some shortcomings in the internal system and external effectiveness of the Chinese female image design in the teaching materials.The specific manifestations are the single identity background of the Chinese female characters,the lack of distinctive personality characteristics,and the lack of rich cross-cultural functions of the role.At the same time,in order to strengthen the objectivity of the research,this article conducted a questionnaire survey and interviews on the design of Chinese female characters in Chinese textbooks on the basis of data analysis to the textbook users,students and teachers,to understand the textbook users’ design of Chinese female characters in the textbook.To further clarify the way of designing female characters in teaching materials and suggestions for improvement.Finally,based on the data extraction of textbook characters and the survey results of textbook users,this article believes that the design of Chinese female characters in Chinese teaching materials for foreigners needs to create a true and objective female image,and it should be student-oriented,and positive and positive for students’ possible prejudices.Female image.On this basis,this article combines the stereotype theory and Michael Byram’s cross-cultural communicative competence model to put forward feasible suggestions from the four aspects of attitude,knowledge,skills,and awareness.The author hopes that the research of this article will,It can provide a new research perspective for the character design of oral Chinese teaching materials.
