This article investigates dual relationships in services for children in distress.Through semi-structured interviews with 8 social workers in an institution in Ordos City, relevant information for the study was obtained. This paper discusses the emergence of dual relationships, the manifestations of dual relationships, the reasons for the emergence of dual relationships, and the impact of dual relationships, combined with interview data.On this basis, relevant suggestions for dealing with the ethical dilemma of dual relations are put forward, and the suggestions are carried out from three levels: micro, meso, and macro, corresponding to social workers, the institutions where social workers work, and the entire social environment. Finally, summarize and reflect on the full text. The innovation of this paper is that by sorting out scholars’ classification of dual relations,it puts forward the idea of classifying dual relations into instrumental dual relations, affective dual relations, and social dual relations, and conducts interviews to verify them.Dual relationships are common in the process of social workers’ services, and the dual relationships in the services of children in distress have a certain specificity, including not only workers and children in distress, but also workers and the caregivers(usually parents)of children in distress. The performance of dual relationship is often expressed in the form of instrumental dual relationship, emotional dual relationship, and social dual relationship. The reasons for the emergence of these dual relationships are relatively complex, mainly including the social workers’ own ethical competence, the management of the social workers’ institutions, and the influence of the human society. The effects of dual relationships are also two-sided,with both positive and some negative effects. Therefore, effective governance of the ethical dilemma of dual relationships can avoid some negative effects of dual relationships, mainly from the micro level: improving the ethical awareness and ability of social workers;the meso level: improving the institutional training management mechanism;the macro level: improving social work Start with ethical mechanisms.
