As the promotion and popularization of basketball among children,basketball training institutions in society pay more attention to training children.At present there is no unified standard for teaching evaluation in basketball training institutions in Shenyang.Teachers’ teaching ability varies and students have different levels of basic skills.The teaching environment is also of varying quality.In this circumstance,the question how to develop students’ interests in basketball and improve their basketball skills poses higher requirements on teaching methods adopted by teachers.After the field research,the author found that children’s basketball training institutions usually adopted the conventional teaching method.This “direct” teaching method neglects students’ interests in basketball and their personality development,whereas it is passed on and used in physical education for decades.It is now still used when modern equipment and new media are widely applied,which is worth pondering.Therefore,this paper takes the teaching methods adopted by children’s basketball training institutions in Shenyang as the research subject,whose carriers are the students in the institutions,and teachers as the respondents.It analyzes the existing problems and contributing factors of the teaching methods applied at this stage by children’s basketball training institutions in Shenyang and proposes targeted optimization strategies,aiming to provide teachers in children’s basketball training institutions with some inspiration concerning changing teaching methods.The author has adopted such methodologies as literature review,questionnaire,field observation,Delphi method,mathematical statistics and so on to conduct this research.Major findings are as follows:(1)The average age of teachers in children’s basketball training institutions in Shenyang is getting younger so they lack teaching experience.And their heavy teaching work results in the single teaching method.So,senior and experienced teachers are needed to guide young teachers to grow quickly.The setting of teaching objectives emphasizes the cultivation of students’ interests in basketball,the improvement of basketball skills and physical fitness and teamwork spirit.The teaching content is mainly about basketball skills and games,assisted with physical fitness and biddy basketball rules.(2)There is little difference in the use of teaching methods for different age groups.Teachers mainly apply the conventional method of explanation and demonstration,assisted with games,to the teaching of students aged 6 to 8 who are in the enlightenment stage.They mainly apply the conventional methods such as explanation and demonstration,segment drills and error correction,assisted with competitions and games,to the teaching of students aged 8 to 10 who are in the foundation stage.They mainly apply the conventional method of explanation and demonstration,assisted with competitions and situational teaching method,to the teaching of students aged 10 to12 who are in the improvement stage.In the technical content,they use the method of explanation and demonstration,practice method and game method more,and in the tactical content,they use the competition method,situational teaching method and case teaching method more.(3)The influencing factors of the teaching methods applied by children’s basketball training institutions in Shenyang are composed of 26 indicators.Through factor-analysis-based dimension reduction,they can be classified into teacher factor,environmental factor,student factor and management factor.According to the weight value,the main influencing factors are ranked as follows: teacher factor>environmental factor>student factor>management factor.(4)The optimization strategies of the teaching methods applied by children’s basketball training institutions in Shenyang mainly include: to normalize business training,be strict in the quality certification of teachers,improve the teaching facilities,promote the humanistic environment of basketball,follow the physical and mental characteristics of children in different age groups,use teaching methods appropriately,improve teaching evaluation standards,establish effective reward and punishment mechanism and improve teachers’ teaching ability.
