Social anxiety refers to the excessive tension and anxiety that individuals feel when exposed to social situations, accompanied by neurotic disorder and avoidance behavior.Social anxiety has great damage to the individual’s social function, and brings great damage to the individual’s interpersonal relationship, work, study and physical and mental health.Self-compassion is a relatively new psychological concept, which has a very powerful and crucial impact on the mental health of individuals. In the past ten years, there have been some studies on the influence of self-compassion on social anxiety at home and abroad, but the amount of research is very few,and the psychological mechanism between self-compassion and social anxiety is not clear. At present, domestic studies on the relationship between self-compassion and social anxiety only focus on college students, and there is no relevant study on high school students abroad. At home and abroad, there is little research on the relationship between empathy and self-esteem,and there is no research on the relationship between empathy and self-concept clarity. However, the domestic research on the relationship between compassion and self-esteem only focuses on college students. In terms of demographic variables, there is no domestic research on self-compassion and family socioeconomic status.Since there are few studies on self-concept clarity at home and abroad, the author found no studies on the relationship between self-concept clarity and gender, place of origin,left-behind experience, grade, age, academic performance, and family socioeconomic status after searching literature. The purpose of this study was to explore the psychological mechanism of self-pity on social anxiety through a chain mediation model,in which self-concept clarity and self-esteem mediate.821 high school students were measured and analyzed using the Self-esteem Scale,self-concept clarity Scale,Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale, social anxiety Scale and demographic questionnaire. The main conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)High school boys have significantly higher levels of empathy,self-concept clarity and self-esteem than girls, and significantly lower levels of social anxiety than girls.Family economic status and academic performance are positively correlated with self-compassion,self-concept clarity and self-esteem,while negatively correlated with social anxiety. There were no significant differences in self-compassion,self-concept clarity,self-esteem and social anxiety between rural and urban areas,grade,age,left-behind experience and only child status.(2)The correlation between the three dimensions of high school students’ self-compassion,self-concept clarity,self-esteem and empathy,self-tolerance and general humanity is very significant and the correlation coefficient is high.(3)The mediating effect test results showed that self-concept clarity and self-esteem had a significant chain mediating effect on the relationship between self-compassion and social anxiety.
