Anxiety is a common psychological problem among college students.Moderate anxiety can improve learning efficiency,but excessive anxiety will affect the normal study and life of college students.This study explores the relationship between college students’ self-concept clarity and anxiety,examines the role of upward social comparison on social networking sites in the relationship between the two,and through specially designed group psychological counseling to improve the self-concept clarity level of college students and reduce their anxiety level.Study 1 uses a questionnaire survey method to conduct a questionnaire survey among 729 undergraduate college students in Kunming and Chongqing to examine the relationship between self-concept clarity and anxiety,as well as social comparison in social networking sites on self-concept clarity and anxiety.In Study 2,a group psychological counseling program was customized with the theme of self-concept clarity,and 32 selected subjects were randomly divided into experimental group and control group according to the questionnaire results of study 1.Before the start of the group assistance,the experimental group and the control group were pre-tested with questionnaires,and they were determined to be homogeneous groups.The experimental group was given group psychological counseling for 8 weeks,once a week,while the control group did not intervene.After the end of the group support,the experimental group and the control group were distributed with questionnaires for post-test,and one month after the end of the group support,the experimental group was distributed again for a follow-up test.Conclusion:1.The clarity of self-concept of college students has significant differences in gender,grade and the frequency of daily use of social networking sites.2.There are significant differences in the social comparison of social networking sites among college students in whether they are the only child,their majors,and the frequency of daily use of social networking sites.3.Self-concept clarity is significantly negatively correlated with anxiety;selfconcept clarity is significantly negatively correlated with the upward social comparison of social networking sites;and the upward social comparison of social networking sites is significantly positively correlated with anxiety.4.College students’ self-concept clarity level significantly negatively predicts their anxiety level.5.The upward social comparison in social networking sites plays an intermediary role in the influence of the level of self-concept clarity on college students’ anxiety.6.Intervening college students through a specially designed group psychological counseling program can effectively improve the clarity of college students’ self-concept,thereby reducing their anxiety level. |
