With the aging of China’s population,the problem of losing one’s only child has been widely concerned by all walks of life.The elderly who have lost their only child,as a special group,will face various problems in their daily life.Therefore,the state has issued a series of relevant policies to provide life and old-age security for the elderly who have lost their only child.However,the society pays little attention to the spiritual and emotional needs of the elderly who have lost their only child,among which depression is a common mental health problem.The intervention of social work in the study of this problem has important intervention and research significance for helping the elderly who lost their only child to effectively relieve depression,help them get out of the emotional dilemma as soon as possible,and better face life.Depression problems this article selects the loss of the old man alone as the research object,Y community in tianjin,for example,in the community through the field contact loss of the old man and the family alone,alone to the community in the old man’s situation,on the basis of in-depth investigation and interviews,to investigate the existence of the loss alone depression performance and reasons of the emotional distress,and to analyze its requirements.Using advantage perspective theory and social support theory,from the three levels of physical and mental health,family,social intervention,through the intervention of case work to explore and practice,to find effective ways to relieve the depression of the elderly who lost their only child.Finally make a summary and reflection,and put forward specific suggestions.This study is of great significance to expand the research field of social work and to deepen the attention and help of the lost only child group.
