Abstract/Summary:
In the era of knowledge economy,the speed of information updating is unprecedented,and the requirements of the society for talents are constantly increasing.Learning has become an essential means for individuals to base themselves on the society and seek good opportunities for development.When students arrive at junior middle school,they have more subjects to learn and more pressure on schoolwork.At the same time,some physiological and psychological changes brought by puberty are easy to distract them,so their state of academic engagement will inevitably be affected.Therefore,studying the academic engagement of junior high school students and its influencing factors has important practical value for improving students’ learning state and promoting academic development.Most of the previous studies on academic engagement used variable-centered methods and could not know the heterogeneity within the sample group.The research will make use of latent profile analysis which belongs to individual-centered method to combine the dimensions of academic engagement,so as to survey the different performances of junior high school students’ academic engagement from a holistic perspective.On this basis,it further analyzes the specific influence of family environment factors such as parenting style and family function on the types of academic engagement of junior high school students.The research use the parenting style scale,family function scale and academic engagement scale to survey 451 junior high school students in Guiyang.The latent profile analysis method is used to explore the latent class of academic engagement of junior high school students,on this basis to explore the influence of parenting style and family function on academic engagement of junior high school students.The results show that parenting style and family function can influence the distribution of academic engagement classes of junior high school students.The specific conclusions are as follows:1.The overall academic engagement and family functions of junior high school students are above the medium level.The score of positive parenting style was higher than negative parenting style.2.The negative parenting style has significant difference in gender,specifically,the scores on negative parenting style evaluated by boys is significantly higher than girls.There are no significant differences in other variables in terms of gender and whether alone or not.3.There are two latent class of junior high school students’ academic engagement: high academic engagement and low academic engagement.4.The more positive parenting style are adopted,students are more likely to classified as high academic engagement,while the more negative parenting style are adopted,students are more likely to classified as low academic engagement.5.Where the family function is better,students are more likely to classified as high academic engagement.
