| Fear of negative evaluation refers to the experience of fear caused by others’ negative evaluation.Due to the rapid differentiation of self-awareness and the development of the ability to pick up opinions,college students are particularly concerned about the evaluation and opinions of others,especially the negative evaluation,thus becoming a group with a high incidence of negative evaluation fear,which seriously affects the construction of self-concept and the development of interpersonal communication of college students.In previous studies,fear of negative evaluation was used as a mediating variable,and its current situation and formation mechanism were rarely investigated.The measurement tools were also translated from foreign questionnaires for direct measurement.Therefore,this study aims to develop and test a localized questionnaire on college students’ fear of negative evaluation,so as to understand the current situation and formation mechanism of college students’ fear of negative evaluation in China,and put forward educational suggestions and countermeasures based on the research results,so as to help college students face up to and improve their fear of negative evaluation and improve their mental health level.According to the research purpose and hypothesis,this study formed its own conception of the fear structure of college students’ negative evaluation on the basis of the existing research and interview results,and based on this,developed the college students’ negative evaluation fear questionnaire.Using the self-made "college students’ negative fear questionnaire","social networking websites myself scale" and "youth network of social support scale" as a measurement tool,from xihua normal university,sichuan province,sichuan college of industry and commerce,and extraction of southwest petroleum university three universities of 1043 freshman year to senior year college student questionnaire.After data collection and analysis,this paper discusses the current situation of college students’ fear of negative evaluation,self-presentation on social networking sites and online social support as well as their interaction mechanisms,and draws the following conclusions:(1)The structure of college students’ fear of negative evaluation includes four dimensions: interpersonal evaluation fear,appearance evaluation fear,character evaluation fear and ability evaluation fear;The reliability and validity of the negative evaluation fear questionnaire were better.(2)The overall level of negative evaluation fear of college students is medium low;Female students,senior students and class cadre students groups of negative evaluation fear level is relatively high.(3)On the whole,college students are more inclined to present themselves positively on social networking sites;Female students and freshman students are more inclined to present a positive self;Students who are not class cadres are more inclined to present their true selves.(4)The overall level of college students’ network social support is low;Male students,senior students,non-only-child students and rural students have relatively low perceived online social support.(5)Both positive self-presentation and true self-presentation significantly negatively predicted fear of negative evaluation;Online social support played a partial mediating role in the relationship between positive self-presentation,real self-presentation and fear of negative evaluation. |
