Social Network Sites (SNS) is a web2.0application pattern whichbased on peer-to-peer technology. It can help people to maintain andexpand their social circle by providing them various social and interactionfunctions. Self-presentation is a kind of social adaptation when people facedifferent social situation or people. People do this in order to make theresults of social activities in keeping with their expectation and let otherpeople build certain impression about them. Self-presentation is not onlythe major motivation of using SNS, but also the most frequent activitiesthat people do in SNS. In recent years, there’re few researches in this area. There’re little tools with good reliability and validity either. This paper combined with the characteristics of college students’use of SNS in our country; use the research methods such as documentary analysis, interview, and questionnaire to explore the structure ofself-presentation orientation, self-presentation tactics and the SNS using intensity. We build up SNS self-presentation orientation questionnaire, SNS self-presentation tactics questionnaire and the SNS using intensity questionnaire. The result shows that the structure of SNS self-presentation orientation is made by five dimensions, namely, self-oriented sharing, self-oriented notes, others-oriented sharing, others-oriented comment, decorating and visiting. The structure of SNS self-presentation tactic is made by two dimensions, namely, winning self-presentation tactic, protecting self-presentation tactic. The structure of SNS usingintensity is made by three dimensions, namely, depth of using; extendof using, and intensity of using. Three questionnaires’ reliability andvalidity are good. Then we use three questionnaires and NEO-GFI toinvestigate the structure of SNS’s self-presentation. We also explore the SNS using intensity and the personality factors’ influencing mechanism in the structure. Finally, we discuss the implications and limitations of these findings, and the suggestions for future research.
