Education is the cornerstone of national development.Education improves labor productivity by improving the quality of labor, and can also promote the development and growth of emerging industries by promoting scientific and technological progress, forming an important source of economic growth, showing the economic function of education investment, that is,the economic performance of education investment. In recent years, under the promotion of the policy of “powering the country by education”and “powering the country by talent”,China’s education development has made continuous progress. In terms of the share of fiscal education expenditure in GDP,it has remained above 4% since 2012.But compared with developed countries, there are still some gaps.In order to promote the development of high-quality economy and the development of educational modernization, the measurement of the level of economic performance of public education investment in China and the differences between regions and the reasons for the differences have become urgent problems that we need to solve.Against this background,a detailed analysis of the economic performance of public education investment is carried out in order to provide feasible suggestions for the development of education in China.First of all, this paper combs and summarizes the existing literature, forms the research framework of this paper on the basis of previous research, and expounds the theories of educational economics, human capital, economic growth, regional economy and the mechanism of the role of educational investment in economic growth,so as to lay a theoretical foundation for the later empirical analysis.Secondly,Secondly,it makes a descriptive analysis of the current situation of public education investment and economic growth in China. Also,on the basis of demarcating the three regions of East,Central and West,a comparative analysis of public education investment between regions is carried out from the three aspects of material, human and financial resources, and a comparative analysis of the current economic growth between regions from the four aspects of GDP volume, growth rate, per capita GDP and industrial composition.Next, the super efficiency SBM model is used to analyze the economic performance of the amount of education investment in each region of China, and then the spatial agglomeration of the economic performance of the amount of education investment is further analyzed by Moran index. Then, the CD production function method is used to conduct an empirical study on the economic performance of the equity degree of regional public education investment in China. The results show that: First, the overall economic performance of the amount of education investment is not enough at this stage, and there is a lack of efficiency. At the same time, the economic performance presents an unbalanced trend of regional development, and the economic performance level of the three regions decreases in turn.Second, the economic performance of the amount of education investment has a significant positive spatial dependence, among which only some provinces in the eastern region have formed a high level of economic efficiency agglomeration area.Third, the influence of public education investment equity measured by education Gini coefficient on economic growth shows significant negative effect in the eastern, western and central regions. The western region has the largest inhibitory effect on economic growth, followed by the central region and the eastern region. Finally, according to the results of empirical research, relevant countermeasures and suggestions are put forward in order to improve the economic performance level of public education investment in China and narrow the gap between regions. The implications of the above conclusions are lists: First, further expand the scale of China’s investment in education, broaden the channels of investment in education funds;Second, the allocation of higher education resources should be reasonably arranged according to the economic development level of each region.Third, continue to promote the reform and innovation of the education system;Fourth, strengthen the input of compulsory education resources, reduce the gap with higher education;Fifth,we will narrow the income distribution gap among residents and accelerate the opening up of education.
