It is undeniable that we all like entertainment and play games,so do students.This phenomenon has also attracted the attention of experts in related fields.They try to introduce the mechanism,elements and concepts of games into classroom teaching.Educational games are the product of this research process.Under the background of the information age,there are numerous attempts and researches in the application of various emerging technologies in the field of education.While bringing reforms and challenges to education and teaching,it is showing a trend of integration and development with the teaching of various disciplines.Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality has been widely used in various industries and fields with its unique 4I characteristics,namely immersion,interaction,imagination and intelligence,especially in the game industry.Its market share in 2019 reached 49.2%,becoming a mainstream application in China’s VR and AR market.This also shows that the integration of AR technology and educational games will greatly expand the application areas of educational games.In addition,the popularization and development of smart mobile devices provide a convenient platform for the application of AR educational games in education and teaching.AR educational games may usher in a new wave of educational technology research.Today,with the continuous development and transformation of education and teaching,we must not only pay more attention to the application of emerging technologies in teaching,but also focus on students’ learning,and strive to use new technologies to increase students’ learning engagement,rather than simply stimulating their learning interest or improve their learning motivation.Cognitive and emotional engagement are contained in learning engagement,and the key step to promote students’ cognitive and emotional engagement is behavioral engagement.It is particularly important to analyze students’ learning behavior,pay more attention to the state of students’ behavioral engagement in the learning process,and explore how to improve students’ learning behavioral engagement level.In view of this,on the basis of theoretical guidance and demand analysis,this thesis builds a game design framework based on the concept of learning behavior engagement.Using Unity 3D engine to develop an AR educational game,named “how many insects you know” of primary school science,and discusses its effectiveness of teaching in science classrooms.Quasi-experimental research,classroom observation,questionnaire and interviews are used in this research.First,analyzing the current research status of“learning behavior engagement”,“AR educational game”,AR software and game cases related to insect learning on the basis of reading a large amount of literature.These all provide a realistic basis for the development of subsequent game;Secondly,under the guidance of the theory of situational cognition,interest theory,and learning science theory to carry out the design analysis of AR educational game based on the concept of learning behavior engagement.By clarifying and determining the influencing factors of students’ learning behavior engagement in the AR game-based teaching environment to propose the design principles of AR educational games.Based on the results of game demand analysis,constructing a design framework for AR educational game;Then,to develop the specific case,named “how many insects you know” of primary school science based on the design principles and framework;Finally,Using AR educational game to teach.Two parallel classes in the sixth grade of primary school in Nanchang are selected as the research objects.The experimental group applying AR educational game in the teaching process,the control group was taught by PPT.The research mainly verified the teaching effectiveness of AR educational games by analyzing the scores of students’ scientific knowledge test,the level of students’ learning behavior,the experimental group students’ satisfaction with AR educational games,classroom observation data,and teacher-student interview data.Studies have shown that this kind of classroom learning based on AR educational games can not only improve students’ learning behavior engagement level,but also further improve students’ knowledge ability level and satisfaction with elementary school science classrooms,indicating that the improvement of students’ learning behavior engagement is accompanied by cognitive engagement and emotion engagement. |
