A large number of studies have shown that individuals with different levels of self-esteem have significant differences in all interpersonal dimensions.Interpersonal distance is an important non-verbal behavior index in interpersonal communication.Whether there is a significant difference in this index among individuals with different self-esteem levels needs further research and exploration.This study is based on previous studies on the differences in self-evaluation and social behavior of high and low self-esteem individuals in interpersonal communication.Further analysis and comparison of the differences in interpersonal distance performance of rural junior high school students with different self-esteem levels can help expand and supplement rural areas with different self-esteem levels.Research on interpersonal communication behavior of junior high school students.This study used the "Rosenborg Self-esteem Scale" revised by Wei Jia and others in2018,which is suitable for measuring the self-esteem level of middle school students in China.A total of 679 questionnaires were distributed,664 valid questionnaires were retrieved,and the effective recovery rate was 97.8%.A total of 59 individuals meeting the high and low self-esteem criteria were selected from the effective questionnaire,including30 individuals with high self-esteem and 29 individuals with low self-esteem.The improved version of the CID(Comfortable Interpersonal distance)experimental paradigm and the computer stopping distance paradigm were used to further explore the interpersonal distance of rural junior high school students with different self-esteem levels.Experiment 1 explored the differences in interpersonal distances among social junior high school students with different self-esteem levels at different ages and orientations,using 2(subject self-esteem level: high and low)* 3(social object age stage: infants,youth,elderly)* 4(azimuth: front,back,left,right)three-factor mixed experiment design.The results of the study showed that the self-esteem level,age of the social object and orientation of the subjects had significant effects on the interpersonal distance of the subjects in both active and passive social situations,and there was no interaction.The specific performance is: the interpersonal distance of individuals with high self-esteem is less than that of individuals with low self-esteem.The specific performance of interpersonal distance when individuals face social objects of different ages and orientations is: young children <old people <youth;front <right <left < Rear.Experiment 2 explored the differences in interpersonal distances of social objects of different genders and emotional faces among rural junior high school students with different levels of self-esteem,using 2(subject self-esteem level: high and low)* 2(social object gender: male and female)* 7(social Subject’s emotional faces: neutral,pleasant,surprised,fear,angry,disgusted,sad)three-factor mixed experimental design,the research results show that: regardless of active or passive social situations,social subjects ’emotional faces,subjects’ gender and other factors The interpersonal distance of the subjects has a significant effect.The specific performance is that the subjects are more inclined to approach social objects expressing neutral and happy expressions,and tend to avoid social objects expressing negative expressions.Female subjects show greater than male subjects.Interpersonal distance.Moreover,the social objects ’gender and social objects’ emotional faces interact significantly.The specific performance is that when the social object expresses a pleasant expression,the subjects show a greater interpersonal distance to the female social object.
