Interpersonal Communication Self-efficacy is an assessment of the use of communication skills in communication situations, whose levels affects the enthusiasm of individuals to participate in social situation.Junior high school students who are in the age of puberty have low body esteem on the account of low evaluation and feelings of dissatisfaction.Junior high school students with low level of body esteem will reduce their self-evaluation of using communication skills and strategies in social environment, even reduce or avoid opportunities to participate in interpersonal communication, leading to poor peer relationships.Existing research on the relationship within three variables is relatively weak, and the research on the body esteem is mostly limited to the field of sports. This study focus on the characteristics of body esteem, interpersonal self-efficacy and peer relationship, and the relationship among the three. The purpose is to reveal function routes and modes of three variables, and it is expected to have a new perspective for us to investigate students’interpersonal relationships and interpersonal efficacy. In order to explore the relationship between body esteem, interpersonal self-efficacy and peer relationship, choose students in the first and third grade of two middle schools from Changzhou city,Jiangsu Province as the object of the study. This study selects the peer relationship scale, adolescence self-efficacy scale and body esteem scale for measuring tools, based on the cluster random sampling method.780 questionnaire were distributed and the number of valid questionnaires was 711.Use SPSS software to analyze the data and the results of the study are as following:(1)In terms of scores on the body esteem and six dimensions, boys scored higher than girls;Only body esteem sub-dimension has significant differences on grade;Whether serving as class cadres has a significant impact on the body esteem of junior high school students, and class cadres are higher than non-class cadres;Exercice frequency and exercice duration have a positive effect on body esteem.(2)The scores of junior high school students’ communicative strategy efficacy are higher than those of communicative competence; The difference in gender is not significant; The grade difference is only appeared in communicative strategy efficacy, and the first grade students are higher than third grade students; The higher frequency of exercise, the stronger sense of communicative efficacy; The duration of exercise has no significant difference in the sense of communicative efficacy.(3)There is a significant difference in peer fear and inferiority between boys and girls, and the scores of girls are higher than boys;there is no significant difference in peer relationship in grades; The peer acceptance level of class cadres is higher than that of non-class cadres;Junior high school students with high exercise frequency have higher peer acceptance than students with low frequency of exercise; The level of peer fear and inferiority is lower than those of low exercise frequency;Exercise duration only has a significant effect on peer fear and inferiority.(4)Junior high school students’ body esteem and its dimensions are significantly correlated with interpersonal efficacy and its two dimensions, exsiting positively significant correlation with peer acceptance and negatively significant correlation with peer fear and inferiority.Body esteem can significantly predict peer acceptance, and negatively predict peer fear inferiority.Communicative strategy efficacy and communicative competence efficacy play a partial mediating role in the relationship between body esteem and peer relationship.
