Down syndrome is the most common chromosomal disease associated with mental retardation. There is no treatable method, and patients cannot fully take care of themselves in life, and their physical functions will become worse and worse with the growth of age. Therefore, the growth of patients with Down syndrome cannot be separated from family caregivers However,long-term care life makes caregivers bear huge care pressure not only physically but also psychologically and socially. As the support of patients with Down syndrome, the physical, psychological and social pressure of caregivers will also have an impact on the daily care of patients. Therefore,it is necessary to relieve the pressure of caregivers. The purpose of this paper is to intervene the stress of family caregivers with Down syndrome. On the basis of familiar with relevant professional techniques and theories, mainly based on social support theory, this paper uses qualitative research methods to analyze and intervene the stress of family caregivers with Down syndrome in the way of case work In the early stage of the study, according to the semi-structured interview, the researcher understood the burden of care and the degree of social support of family caregivers of patients with Down syndrome, and made a detailed analysis and summary of the economic, physical, psychological and social care burden of caregivers and its causes Then, according to the analysis of interview data and observation results, the researcher planned to divide the stress relief process of caregivers into four stages, providing emotional support for them, emotional counseling, linking social support resources, building a social support network, and linking and integrating community psychological counselors and neighbors of caregivers Friends and other resources provide caregivers with instrumental and emotional social support and expand social support networks, which relieve the physical, psychological and social stress of caregivers of patients with Down syndrome.By summarizing the whole case service and reflecting on the status of caregivers’ support after the intervention, the researchers concluded that the instrumental support available in the social support network built for caregivers was still insufficient, and the sources of emotional support were unstable Finally, the researchers made recommendation on the provision of respite care services and the implementation of public services for persons with disabilities, with a view to providing continuous social support and more appropriate services for people with Down syndrome and family caregivers.
