China is amid a period of social transformation. With the rapid development of emerging media based on the Internet, college students’ demands for politics have increased, and they have higher and deeper expectations for the political system.According to the survey of world values,Chinese college students’ recognition of political importance has been obviously decreased in recent years. The group of college students shoulders the future of the country.Their recognition and trust in the operation of the political system are related to the legitimacy of political authority and the stability of the political environment. Therefore, the author selects the most popular form of mass media, the We Chat public platform and explores the political attributes of the We Chat public platform in terms of political information acquisition, political will, political system supervision and political affairs. The political function analyzes the frequency, preference and use of emotions of college students in their political use,in order to discover the possible impact of college students’ political use of We Chat public platform on their political trust. The study found that the overall political trust of college students in Nanjing is well, but there is a clear pattern of poor order trust. The trust between the two levels of central trust is serious, especially the most distrust of grassroots administrative personnel. In the use of mass media, college students are more inclined to choose the mainstream Internet media, but whether the traditional media or the emerging media, can both promote the political trust of college students. As far as the We Chat public platform is concerned, college students mainly use their access to political information.Their frequency of use and emotional use have a significant positive effect on the political trust building of college students. But different forms of content tend to produce different effects. The positive publicity news of the mainstream media is conducive to the generation of political trust of college students, but negative news reports will damage the overall trust. Therefore,in response to the problems and reasons found in the empirical results, several suggestions are put forward: the government should play a leading role, constantly improve the system and standardization, promote the development of government We Chat, and strengthen social public opinion guidance. The media should give play to the advantages of communication, promote the optimization and upgrading of the public content, cultivate rational We Chat opinion leaders, and create a good political and cultural atmosphere.College students should give full play to their subjective initiative, enhance their political literacy, optimize the media cognition system, and participate in political life rationally and orderly,to consolidate political trust and strengthen the political identity.
