Teachers constitute a major force in facilitating the development of educational institutions.The professional performance of the teachers,who fulfill the role of educators,directly affects the competitiveness of colleges and universities.However,compared with public universities,private colleges obviously have deficiencies in their management system and neglect the supervision of their teachers.Performance appraisal,which is an important part of human resource management,provides an effective tool to evaluate the contribution of institutional members in their work.At present,the study about the performance appraisal of teachers in colleges and universities is limited.The improvement of the teaching quality and enthusiasm of teachers in colleges and universities entails a research on the performance appraisal of college teachers.My thesis explores the optimization of teachers’ performance appraisal by studying QC College.Chapter one introduces the research background and significance of this thesis,summarizes the domestic and foreign research literature on the performance appraisal of college teachers,and propounds the research methodology and the main contents of this thesis;Chapter two expounds the concepts of performance and performance appraisal,and introduces the theory of objective management and fairness;Chapter three briefly introduces the background of the college,the current methods and procedures of performance appraisal,and investigates the satisfaction of the teachers with the current performance appraisal through the distribution of questionnaires;Chapter four analyzes the problems of teachers’ performance appraisal in QC college and their causes.The problems of the teachers’ performance appraisal lie in the scientific management and defective subjects.The existence of these problems directly affects the development of the teachers’ performance appraisal in QC college and undermines the efficiency of the performance appraisal.Chapter five advances some suggestions to optimize the performance appraisal of teachers in QC college and sets up the goal of optimization.The main purpose of this optimization is to achieve the fundamental transformation guided by the strategic goal of college development and to realize the fundamental transformation of all-round development change.In accordance with the basic principles of "respect law,people-oriented" and other basic principles,the performance appraisal of teachers in QC colleges shall improve in the following aspects: first,to improve the management level of schools and target the problem regarding the blurry responsibilities of various departments,QC colleges and universities need to strengthen organizational security,set up a special performance appraisal leading group,deepen the understanding of all staff members about the performance appraisal project,and impart the importance of the performance appraisal to teachers and administrators;Secondly,the main body of performance appraisal should be optimized.On the basis of the original main body of performance appraisal,the main body of performance appraisal of QC college should import external experts and students as the main subjects of the evaluation;third,there should be a scientific performance appraisal indicator system.As the theoretical and technical teachers have different focuses,they need to be treated differently;fourth,it is important to actively apply the results of performance appraisal,avoid the mere formality of performance appraisal,combine the results of performance appraisal with salary,promotion,welfare and so on,and fulfill the purpose of performance appraisal to itself and the whole school.Finally,in order to ensure the effective implementation of performance appraisal,it is necessary to establish constructive feedback and communication channels,enhance the supervision mechanism,and train professional performance appraisal personnel.Through exploring the improvement of the teachers’ performance appraisal in QC colleges and other private colleges in China,my thesis aims to offer a significant study.At the same time,this thesis has its limitation in its research.Thus,I will continue to improve this work in my future study and further investigate my research on the performance appraisal of colleges and universities. |
