Nel Noddings’ view of happiness education is an extension of his caring ethics in the field of school education.As a product of a specific historical and cultural background,the formation and development of Noddings’ view of happiness education is in the era of globalization.Combined with Noddings’ early experience,it developed in the United States social education reform and other practical influence.Noddings’ view of happiness education originates from the thought of caring ethics.Humanistic psychology,existential philosophy,pragmatism and Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligence also provide a solid theoretical basis and support for the formation and development of happiness education.Noddings believes that “achieving happiness” should be the core purpose of education,and the task of educators should be to promote students’ happiness and help students achieve a happy life.In this process,students need more space and opportunities for democracy and free choice.At the same time,she also emphasizes that students’ interests should be developed through diversified and rich courses,and the continuity of happiness education curriculum should be emphasized.Pay attention to students’ current happiness and cultivate students’ happiness ability.In view of this,based on the starting point of drawing nutrition from Noddings’ thought of happiness education to think about the reality of education in China,this paper expounds the existing research results of happiness education on the basis of analyzing the present situation of social education and interpreting the significance of happiness education.At the same time,this paper discusses the ideological connotation of happiness education from the theoretical and practical exploration,analyzes the shortcomings of this theory,summarizes and absorbs beneficial experience from it.It provides a useful cultural reference for exploring and innovating the development direction of school education in China.On the one hand,from the background of Nel Noddings’ thought of happiness education,this paper combs the social background and theoretical origin of the thought of happiness education.In terms of social background,the impact of global multiculturalism,the trend of constructivist education and the rise of positive psychology have led Noddings to think about the current situation of education.Combining with her many years of educational experience,drawing on the beneficial wisdom of humanistic psychology and multiple intelligences theory,Noddings tries to explore the good prescription of educational reform from the core purpose of education by tracing back to the source of education.The thought of happiness education came into being.On the other hand,this paper focuses on the main opinions of the concept of happiness education.It includes the purpose,curriculum,method and environment of happiness education.While explaining the purpose and basic content of happiness education,this paper systematically discusses the curriculum content of happiness education from the aspects of curriculum view,curriculum principle and curriculum implementation,and discusses the methods of happiness education from the aspects of teaching,learning and evaluation.And from the two parts of private life and public life,the construction of happiness education environment is explained.Honestly,Nel Noddings’ thought of happiness education is very bright in renewing the educational idea and adapting to the development of modern education.Especially,the conclusion that the significance of educational places and the process of education itself should be happiness provides useful guidance and experience for the reform of education and teaching in all countries of the world.However,there are still some shortcomings in this theory,which is worthy of our reflection and thinking at the same time.Therefore,we should actively learn from the beneficial theory,and combined with the social reality to sum up the practical enlightenment to our country: Firstly,in the educational thinking,strengthens the happiness education consciousness,improves the educational concept of human nature;Secondly,in the content of education,keeps pace with the times and enriches the content of happiness education curriculum;Thirdly,in the education methods,integrate multiple educational resources,broaden the educational channels of implementations;Fourthly,in the teacher-student relationship,improves the quality of teachers’ caring,creates happy relationship between teachers and students.
