Practice Research On Social Work To Improve The Environmental Awareness Of The Elderly In Urban Communities ——Take The Z Community In Kunming As An Example

At present,the global environmental problems are prominent,and various countries and international organizations have put forward a series of rectification plans on ecological and environmental issues.China is also making a series of efforts for environmental protection and promoting the development of community environmental governance.In recent years,many scholars in the field of social work have begun to pay attention to the issue of ecological environment,and many social work organizations in China have also begun to participate in the community involvement in environmental governance and the construction of ecological civilization.Based on Z community’s internship observation and literature review,the author found that the elderly in the community have a high demand for environmental quality and low awareness of environmental quality.This article promote the environmental awareness of the elderly in the community as the research purpose of social work practice.The author took the elderly group in community Z as the research object and distributed 49 copies of Environmental Awareness Questionnaire to them in order to understand the environmental awareness level of the elderly in urban communities.The results shows that 49 elderly people in Z community have a generally low level of environmental awareness,with an average score of 44.91,which fails to reach the passing line.Among them,the scores of three dimensions including environmental knowledge,environmental values and environmental protection behavior orientation have low average scores,In the dimension of environmental protection attitude,the average score of respondents is relatively high.In order to explore the effectiveness of social work practice in improving the environmental awareness of the elderly in communities,the author combined the participatory observation method,questionnaire survey method and semi-structured interview method to collect effective data.On a voluntary basis,six respondents who have not reached the passing line level of environmental awareness are recruited and selected as the main service objects.Analyze the factors that affect the environmental awareness level of service objects by the theory of ecological system.Also,this research uses the superior perspective as the theoretical basis of service to design the social work practice scheme,raise the environmental awareness of the elderly in Z community.The results show that,after the intervention of social work practice,the overall level of environmental awareness of the elderly increased by 39.16 points（P<0.05）,with a significant difference.Each dimension is also improved to varying degrees.The average scores of environmental knowledge,environmental value,environmental protection attitude and environmental protection behavior orientation are increased by 6.33,6.33,4.50 and 22.00 points,respectively,with significant differences in each dimension（P<0.05）.Research conclusion: Social work services are effective in improving the level of environmental awareness of the elderly in urban communities.The elderly gain more environmental knowledge,explore their own advantages and abilities in environmental protection,and enhance their confidence in environmental protection,which plays a positive role in promoting the participation of the elderly in environmental protection.
