The Effect Of Caregivers’ Characters On Children’s Educational Attainment

In recent years,with the rapid development of times and the increasing wealth of residents,more and more families begin to pay much attention to the higher education and quality education for their children or grandchildren.Often a child’s education level decides whether the child can have a bright future,to a great extent.However,there are many factors that affect a child’s ability to get their highest degree.In addition to the congenital factors such as the child’s own intelligence level and the child’s subjective willing and initiative for learning,objective factors such as social and family factors will also have a significant impact on the quality of higher education received by the child.Among them,the most important and the most complex influencing factors are the objective factors from the children’s family.As a caregiver of children,do their own characteristics(such as education,gender,age,etc.)have an impact on the education level of children?Moreover,when transaction costs change in a child’s country,is there an indirect effect on the child’s level of education?To solve this series of problems,this paper takes the characteristics of child caregivers and the education level of children as the entry point,and analyzes the survey data of 12,000 children from India,Vietnam,Peru and Ethiopia in the website of Young Lives of Oxford University.This article selects the children to the highest as interpreted by the education level variables,in consideration of the caregivers’ level of education,the caregivers’ gender and the national transaction costs(countries corruption index as representative)as the main explanatory variables,at the same time and try to introduce the caregivers’ level of education and the gender of caregivers of cross phase and the above three main explanation variable cross phase,used for investigation of caregivers with different degree of education,female caregivers with different level of education and under different transaction costs of different education degree of female caregivers to the child by the highest level of education will have different impact.In addition,the age of caregivers,the relationship between caregivers and children,the wealth index of the children’s family,the age of children,the gender of children,the time spent studying outside the school and the degree of self-satisfaction of children were also selected as the control variables.In order to better confirm the differences between the control group within the main explanatory variables,this paper also conducted inter-group differences tests on the different explanatory variables,in order to verify that the characteristics or factors of different caregivers do have a significant impact on the average educational level of children.The empirical study drew the following conclusions:(1)When caregivers have higher education level,they will recognize the importance of higher education more in their daily care of children,so they will positively encourage children to receive higher education,thus making children have higher education level.(2)Due to the social and family factors determine the caregivers who are usually female,so when the caregivers who are highly educated women,they will pay more attention to in the training and education of children’s behavior concept,and let the child itself more recognized the importance of higher education,will eventually positively encourage the children to get higher education level.(3)When the national transaction cost represented by the national corruption index decreases,the disposable income of female caregivers with high education level increases relatively,which will increase their investment in children’s education,thus positively promoting the improvement of children’s education level.In view of the above empirical results,this paper suggests to promote the education level of caregivers through various ways,such as enhancing the educational level of caregivers and enhancing the knowledge level of caregivers about children’s education.In addition,the access channels of caregivers to getting knowledge can be expanded by means of media and the Internet,so as to learn more cutting-edge and popular parenting knowledge from abroad,and to ensure the scientific and effectiveness of education methods,and improve the average educational level of children.
