With the development of social economy and the transformation of social structure, many young parents lack both time and energy to educate their children because of the increasing pressure of survival competition. Therefore, the participation of older people in intergenerational education are becoming a new normal in our society, and it is also a topic that has attracted much attention in recent years. The improper education concept of the elderly in intergenerational education will affect their educational behavior, and will eventually have an important impact on the growth of children.By updating the intergenerational education concept of the elderly to improve their intergenerational education behavior and the quality of education is necessary.By combing the relevant literature, the author found that the concept of intergenerational education can be changed through scientific mechanisms. The education group can help the group members understand new information and add new knowledge by carrying out corresponding group activities, which is applicable to the updating of generational education concepts. Therefore, the author takes the group work practice of updating the generational education concept of the Y community in Wuhan as an example to study the education group’s involvement in the updating of the generational education concept of the urban ancestors. The author find the current situation of intergenerational education concept of the elderly in Y community by observation, questionnaire survey and interview. After comprehensive analysis of the data, the problem is defined and the needs are evaluated. The author finds that some elderly people in Y community have unscientific education concepts, which are mainly manifested in four aspects: child development, talent expectations, intergenerational relationships, and the conflict between parents and grandparents. The deviation component in the educational concept will affect their educational behavior, produce unsatisfactory educational effects, and then affect the sense of self-efficacy.Based on the theory of empowerment, the author attempts to update the concept of intergenerational education for the ancestors by organizing the education team.Combined with the existing research on the mechanism of updating educational concepts, the group design is divided into three major stages, challenging old concepts, updating concepts and consolidating scientific concepts.Through self-enhancement,the motivation to change ideas and self-determination are stimulated.Through interactive-enhancement to provide elderly with social support, then promote the transformation of ideas.Through consolidating-enhancement to consolidate the scientific ideas in practice.Through the final evaluation,it can be found that the understanding of the six team members on child development, talent expectations, intergenerational relationships, and the conflict between parents and grandparents has changed. The education team can update the concepts of urban family ancestors through scientific mechanisms. The renewal of ancestors’ education concepts is realized through internal and external interactions. The transformation of concepts can be promoted by self-enhancement,interactive-enhancement and consolidation-enhancement.Although the group has some effects, the author also found some deficiencies after reflection. For example, the content of educational concepts is complex and systematic. The change of educational concepts is a slow and long-term process. The effect of updating the educational concepts of group members needs to be examined by changes in educational behavior, the effects of group activities vary from person to person.
