Effect Of Parenting Style On Pupils’ Personality:A Moderated Mediation Model | | Posted on:2017-01-01 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:S Liu | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2507304871989369 | Subject:Development and educational psychology | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | Over the years,the personality research has been the focus and hotspot in the field of psychological science.It played a crucial role in individual health of body and mind and even many areas of life.Elementary school is an important period of children’s personality development,so the study on the mechanism of children’s personality does not only provides more targeted research in theoretical knowledge for the children’s personality,but also more exact index of intervention.Therefore,this study was based on the human ecological model of development and perspective of context theory to explore the deep mechanism of parenting style、peer acceptance and student perception of teacher expectation affect pupils’ personality.A total of 2150 pupils were selected by using questionnaire in three schools in Dalian.This study had two parts: firstly,the study explored the mediation role of peer acceptance between parenting style and pupils’ personality by using questionnaires;secondly,it investigated the moderation role of teacher expectation by questionnaires.The mediation role of peer acceptance and the moderation role of teacher expectation are studied comprehensively.And a moderated mediation model was constructed based on the ecology model of human development and the development context theory.In this model,peer acceptance mediated the relationship between parenting style and pupils’ personality,meanwhile,the first half of the mediation path was moderated by the student perception of teacher expectation.The results showed that:(1)Democratic dimension of parenting style has a direct effect on personality characteristics of intelligent,serious self-control,extroversion,social,emotional stability dimensions of personality characteristics.(2)Peer acceptance is a mediator.Democratic measure of parenting style positively influence the development of extraversion and social measures of pupils’ personality indirectly.(3)At the same time,peer acceptance mediated the relationship between democratic measure of parenting style and the extraversion and the social measures of pupils’ personality,the first half of the mediation path was moderated by the negative feedback measure of student perception of teacher expectation.Therefore,peer acceptance is a moderated mediation variable.And,the mechanism of the parenting style influencing pupils’ personality is a model of moderated mediation. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Pupils, Parenting Style, Peer Acceptance, Student Perception of Teacher Exception, Personality | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
