Case Study Of Government Crisis Public Relations In The Food Safety Incident Of Development School Chengdu No.7 High School

Crisis is everywhere and could break out at any time.With the rapid development of information technology,news shows a new trend of fast dissemination and wide range of influence,this leads to the influence of public crisis events being out of the control of local governments,and breaking through their psychological expectations.After the outbreak of public crisis,if there are no effective and timely measures taken by local government to deal with it,both the image and authority of local government will be affected,and it may result in further deterioration of the crisis,or even become a bigger crisis.In terms of the reality,the response of local governments at all levels to the incipient crisis is not timely enough.The government usually starts paying attention to and carrying out the crisis public relations only when the crisis has a tendency of spreading and arouses widespread public attention.They are easy to be affected by various rumors,and this may result in some negative effects.Therefore,how to improve the public relations ability and resolve the crisis in time with a complex public opinion environment has become an important practical issue for local governments at all levels.The food safety incident that occurred at Development School Chengdu No.7 High School in March 2019 is a typical case of government crisis public relations.Selecting this incident as a research object can help us understand the role of the government in a more comprehensive,three-dimensional and in-depth way.This thesis first introduces the food safety incident in Development School Chengdu No.7 High School.Then,based on the Crisis Life Cycle Theory and the 5S Theory of Crisis Public Relations,this thesis systematically analyzes the practical process,main practices and key achievements of government crisis public relations from the perspectives of rapid response,sincere communication and authoritative verification.Finally,three aspects of enlightenment are drawn:（1）Seek breakthrough from technical means to achieve a rapid response of crisis public relations;（2）Seek breakthrough from system reform to realize a smooth mechanism of crisis public relations;（3）Seek breakthrough from personnel training to improve the ability of crisis public relations.This thesis helps us to sum up experience and lessons,explore objective laws,enrich and improve relevant theories of government crisis public relations,and provide reference for better crisis public relations work in the future.
