Literary translation is a bridge of cross-cultural communication.With the acceleration of globalization and the increasingly close communication between Chinese and Western cultures,China’s demand for the exploration of Western literary works is increasing,and the cause of literary translation in China is constantly ushering in a new climax.The translation material of this E-C translation practice report is based on the short story Cruiser by Australian writer Glen Phillips,which is set in World War II and tells a sad love story.The sentence pattern of this story is not complicated,but it has relatively high requirements for Australian knowledge,involving geography,history,military affairs,biology,cultural traditions and other aspects.In this translation practice process,the translator took “Skopos theory” as the theoretical guidance,and analyzed and summarized sevral typical cases about the translation of character description,environment description and culture loaded words under the guidance of “Skopos theory” by translation methods such as annotation,idiomatic translation,paraphrase and so on,in order to contribute to the cause of Australian literary translation in China. |
