A Report On The E-C Translation Of The Annual Report Of The Australian Department Of Foreign Affairs And Trade For 2016-17 (Excerpts P1-P35) Under The Guidance Of Skopos Theory

In order to be informed of Australian culture better and serve as helpful reference in studying Australian policies and diplomacy,the translator selects the Annual Report of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade for 2016-17(hereinafter referred to as “the ARADFAT for 2016-17”)as the content of English-Chinese translation practice.Written on the basis of this,the practice report of translation includes four chapters: Translation Task Description,Translation Process Description,Translation Case Analysis and Conclusion,all of which show how the translator has analyzed the characteristics of the source text and worked on the translating practice under the guidance of skopos theory.To achieve the professionalism,accuracy,fluency and readability of the translation,the translator focuses on the study of the translation difficulties in terms,polysemy,prepositional phrases and the structures of non-predicate verbs,attributive clauses and the differences between English and Chinese expressions,and discusses the process of solving translation difficulties by using translation methods such as literature method,conversion,amplification,deletion,embedding and concretizing referential contents through typical cases.Under the guidance of skopos rule,coherence rule and loyalty principle,the translator has coordinated the connection among the target text,the original text and the readers,and unified the purpose of the original text and the expectation of the readers maximally.The goals of original translation have been achieved and helpful translation experience has been gained,providing beneficial reference for other translators to translate similar texts.
