In recent years,China’s manufacturing industry has been developing rapidly. The brand "Made in China" has won its reputation in the world and attracted people’s attention. Therefore,it is particularly meaningful to show the story of Made-in-China perfectly to the world. As an important medium to introduce China’s manufacturing industry to the public, science documentaries must accurately convey information to the audience. Therefore,an accurate translation of such documentaries will help the audience to understand the manufacturing process of various necessities of life and deepen their understanding of Made-in-ChinaIn this practice, the whole episode of the science documentary Theory of Creation: How Many Steps Does It Need is selected as the corpus for a simulating Chinese-English consecutive interpreting practice.Rich content, intensive information, fast output speed, complex sentences structures and various rhetorical devices, all these factors brings difficulties to consecutive interpreting. When the interpreting has difficulties, too much redundant information, which is produced by translators, will appeared in the translation resulting in the problem of translation redundancy. In this practice, the translation redundancy problem is the major reason affecting the effect of information communication. The emergence of translation redundancy will reduce the information and communication efficiency of translation, affect the listening experience of the audience, and make the audience cannot accurately understand the information. After analysis, the translation redundancy problems in this practice can be divided into three categories: translation redundancy caused by improper semantic analysis, translation redundancy caused by improper structural analysis, and translation redundancy caused by bad language habits. In the face of these three translation redundancy problems, using substitution and simplification can properly solve the redundancy caused by improper semantic analysis;using deconstruction and omission can greatly avoid the redundancy caused by improper structural analysis;using lexical chunts and prolonging the natural pauses can reasonable solve the redundancy caused by bad language habits. The flexible use of these translation methods can not only effectively solve the problem of translation redundancy encountered in this translation practice, but also provide strategies and inspiration for other interpreters when translating the same type of documentaries.
