| Inner Mongolia Shengle region,Shanxi Pingcheng area is once the stage of the activities of the nomadic Tuoba Xianbei in northern China,Shengle is the early capital of Tuoba Xianbei,accompanied by the Daowu Emperor Tuoba Jue in the first year of Tianxing(398 AD)to move the capital from Shengle to Pingcheng,Pingcheng as the political and cultural center of the Northern Wei Dynasty for nearly a hundred years.The Shengle area included today’s Hohhot City,Helinger County,Tokto County,and today’s Baotou District,while the Pingcheng area included today’s Datong City,Datong County,Zuoyun County,Guangling County,Youyu County,Hunyuan County,and Shuozhou District.With the introduction of Buddhism in the two Han Dynasties,the influence of Buddhism reached its peak in the Northern Wei Dynasty,the rulers vigorously promoted Buddhism,the people also built temples to believe in Buddhism,and the Northern Wei Shengle area and Pingcheng area retained a large number of Buddhist relics.These Buddhist relics reflect the beliefs of the people living in the Shengle and Pingcheng areas at that time,and also reflect the great influence of Buddhism in northern China during the Northern Wei Dynasty.Based on the physical historical materials,this paper refers to relevant papers,and compares the characteristics of Buddhist relics in the Shengle area and Pingcheng area of the Northern Wei Dynasty to explore the spread of Buddhism in the Northern Wei Dynasty and the importance of the spread of Buddhism to the Sinicization of Xianbei and ethnic integration. |
