Abstract/Summary:
As science and technology develops and the globalization gradually advances,global information exchange has become an inevitable trend.So the importance of EST translation has gradually become prominent.During the process,in order to promote the communication and exchange in the field of science and technology,more and more translators have participated in EST translation.Therefore,to further promote the development in this area,the translator chose the Digital Humanities Coursebook as the source text and typical sentence in this book as research object to discuss how to adopt translation strategies and skills in the face of certain conditions,thus forming accurate and authentic translation.As a scientific text in the field of computer science,the Digital Humanities Coursebook was written by Johanna Drucker and first published in March,2021,and there is no translation of this book at present.There are many sentences with nominalization structures and prepositional phrases,lots of passive sentences and long sentences in the Digital Humanities Coursebook.And its language is concise and logic rigorous.According to the features of the text,it is suitable to adopt the Skopos theory to guide translation practice and choose four translation skills among many skills to translate this book,namely the conversion of part of speech,change of voice,addition and division.In later content,this report will appreciate the effect achieved by adopting certain skill in the sentences under the guidance of the Skopos theory.Finally,the translator hopes put the translation theory,translation skills learned in class into practice through the translation practice,so as to improve translation ability and level to a certain extent.Meanwhile,by writing this translation report,the translator will summarize the problems and solutions encountered in the translation process,hoping bring enlightenment to other readers and help them flexibly choose translation skills in similar situations to achieve the best translation effect.What’s more,the translator hopes the translation of the Digital Humanities Coursebook can play an active role in promoting the information exchange in the field of computer science.
