As science and technology continue to progress rapidly, people are spending more and more time immersed in digital environments.Research at the intersection of psychology and digital technology is garnering increasing interest and aims to investigate how emotional factors can be studied using digital approaches and applied on a societal scale. This developing area of study intrigues many researchers. In view of this, the source text is selected from the social science text Emotion in the Digital Age: Technologies,Data and Psychosocial Life, which focuses on the changes in emotions through the use of digital technology. This book mainly contains the integration and application of emotional factors in four key areas of digital practice: artificial intelligence, social media, mental health, and monitoring.Skopos Theory regards translation as an act of purposeful intercultural communication, and this source text employs rigorous and logical language with a great amount of complicated attributive clauses. Therefore,Skopos Theory is applicable to the translation strategies for attributive clauses in social science texts. This report summarizes the translation strategies for restrictive and non-restrictive attributive clauses by analyzing their characteristics. The translator adopts the strategies for the prepositioning, division, conversion, combination, recasting, and synthesis to translate restrictive attributive clauses and the strategies for conversion, division and synthesis to translate non-restrictive attributive clauses. The adoption of these appropriate strategies contributes to conveying the original information accurately while ensuring readability and acceptability. This report is composed of five chapters.Chapter One introduces the source text and the significance of the report.Chapter Two describes the translation process, including pretranslation,while-translation,and post-translation;Chapter Three is the theoretical basis, which first describes Skopos Theory’s development, its three rules and its previous research. Then,it introduces the definition and classification of attributive clauses,as well as the relevant literature research on the translation strategies of attributive clauses. Finally,it discusses the feasibility of this theory as a guide for the translation of attributive clauses.Chapter Four is the case analysis, which explores the translation strategies for both restrictive attributive clauses and non-restrictive attributive clauses under the guidance of the Skopos Theory.Chapter Five summarizes the findings and limitations of this translation practice.
