| The source text of this translation project is excerpted from Global Debates in the Digital Humanities which is a collection of essays on the global development of digital humanities as well as related research co-edited by Domenico Fiormonte,Sukanta Chaudhuri and Paola Ricaurte.The excerpts covers the history and development of digital humanities in East Asian countries.It also explores the hidden language and gender issues in digital technology.Such text involves a large number of proper nouns,polysemy,and complex sentences,and also attaches great importance to the logic of language and the accuracy of information.Therefore,the framework of“Comprehension,Expression and Adaptation”(CEA)proposed by Professor Li Changshuan is adopted by the translator to guide the whole translation process and solve some problems encountered while translating.For “Comprehension”,the translator made use of the dictionary,context,and divided sentence elements to have a deep understanding of the words,complex sentences as well as textual logic of the source materials;For “Expression”,the translator focused on the word collocation,coherence and explicitation technique to ensure the flow of information from the source text to target text;And for “Adaptation”,the translator,based on the language habits of the target language,adopted the translation techniques of negation,annotation,combination and division to deal with the cultural differences and deliver the information more effectively. |
