With the increasing influence of Chinese culture in the world,more and more attention has been paid to Teaching Chinese culture as a foreign language.The promotion of the status of Teaching Chinese culture as a foreign language makes cultural teaching textbook widely valued by the academic circles.As one of the types of cultural teaching textbook,China profile textbook play an important role in Teaching Chinese culture as a foreign language.It is an important carrier for spreading Chinese culture and the key for foreign students to open the door of Chinese culture.It not only undertakes the responsibility of carrying forward Chinese culture,but also a medium for cultural exchanges with other countries.China profile textbook is a cultural teaching textbook of China’s national conditions,which can help foreign students understand China’s national conditions,history,culture and modern life,and help foreign students improve their cross-cultural communication ability and adaptability.Therefore,the study of China profile textbook is of far-reaching significance.This article selects "China Panorama" edited by Guo Peng,Cheng Long,and Jiang Xiliang(Higher Education Press,May 2011)and the second edition of "A Survey of China" edited by Ning Jiming(Beijing Language and Culture University Press,August 2018)as research Objects,analysis of the experience and existing problems in the compilation of two China profile textbooks,and make suggestions.This paper is divided into six parts.The first part is the introduction,which mainly introduces the research background,the significance of the topic,the research review and the research object.The second part is the discussion on the compilation principles of China profile textbook,which are the combination of pertinence and practicability,communication and interest,science and the times.The third part is a survey on the use of two China profile textbooks,and an analysis is made based on the survey data.The fourth part compares the layout design and structure of the two textbooks from the four aspects of applicable objects,arrangement system,pictures and charts,cover and back cover.The fifth part compares the content selection,vocabulary arrangement and practice design of the two textbooks.The sixth part expounds the problems existing in the compilation of teaching materials,such as more ancient cultural content,less practical communication exercises and lack of supporting resources,and gives corresponding suggestions and improvement directions,in order to provide reference for the compilation of China profile textbook.
