| In the context of today’s global economic integration, all walks of life in China pursue the development strategy of "going out",actively explore overseas markets, and their international competitiveness, including the financial industry. The financial industry plays an important role in participating in international cooperation and competition.A good translation of financial supervision text can help to achieve effective supervision of banks, attract consumers, expand foreign exchange and cooperation, and enhance their international influence. This report is an E-C practical report on financial supervision. The original text,Bank Holding Company Supervision Manual, issued by the Federal Reserve, provides guidance for the inspection of bank holding companies and their non-bank subsidiaries.Guided by Eugene Nida’s functional equivalence theory, this paper excerpts the E-C translation of 1040-1050 chapters as materials and research objects. The original manual is an informative text, which focuses on the transmission of content and readers’ acceptance. It is of guiding significance to translation practice because it emphasizes content first and form second with functional equivalence. When translating,we should not only accurately convey the basic meaning of the manual, but also consider the readers’ acceptance. Therefore,we can refer to functional equivalence and combine various translation strategies: literal translation, free translation, and such translation techniques as addition, conversion and combination,to achieve functional equivalence. This report analyzes the aspects of professional vocabulary, abbreviations, long and difficult sentences to exemplify how to realize information transmission and complete practical tasks.Through the translation practice of this project, the author summarizes the methods that can be used in the process of financial translation practice, the shortcomings and problems. It is hoped that this practice can have reference value and practical significance for parallel texts. |
