A Report On The E-C Translation Of A Financial Text From The Perspective Of Functional Equivalence Theory

Economic globalization has swept the world in recent years,and economic exchanges among countries have become increasingly close.As a booster to economic development,finance has been the focus of research in various countries.With the rapid growth of China’s financial field,the demand for financial text translation is also increasing.The translation text of this report is Central Bank Digital Currency and Fintech in Asia,which is the category of the financial text.Digital currency and financial technology have been hot topics in the financial area.The book focuses on developing digital currency and financial technology in Asian countries,which has reference significance for the research of financial text.Guided by Eugene Nida’s functional equivalence theory,the author analyzes the typical cases based on different translation methods through case analysis,and discusses the translation methods and strategies at the lexical,syntactic,and textual levels.At the lexical level,this report focuses on the translation methods of financial terms and professional vocabulary,and the translation by the author tries to achieve functional equivalence and conform to the characteristics of financial text by querying professional materials or literal translation.At the syntactic level,according to the language characteristics of financial texts,such as a large number of long sentences and passive sentences,the sentences are processed by shifts of voice,inversion,and division.At the textual level,it analyzes the translation of cohesive words and demonstrative pronouns.Therefore,on the basis of exploring the characteristics of financial texts,this report seeks translation strategies and skills under the guidance of functional equivalence theory,to provide the research on translation skills of financial texts.In addition,the use of functional equivalence theory can better explain its actual content of formal equivalence and dynamic equivalence,add a case study for the theory,and promote its in-depth study.
