Translation ethics is the code of professional ethics followed by translators and interpreters in translation activities. In recent years,ever-growing international exchanges have pushed forward the increasing demand for translation.Translators and interpreters at all levels flooded into the translation market, causing concerns about their professional ethics. Therefore, translation ethics has received the attention of many scholars and experts. In 2019,the CAS hearing of Sun Yang received a large quantity of public attention, and the interpreters’performance at the hearing brought the concept of translation ethics to the public.Andrew Chesterman’s theory of translation ethics is selected as the theoretical framework to analyze the interpretation activity of CAS’s hearing of Sun Yang, and the behaviors of different subjects involved in the interpretation of the case are analyzed from the following five perspectives:the ethics of reproduction, service, communication, commitment, and norm-based ethics. This study explores the specific behaviors of subjects related to translation and their embodiment and violation of translation ethics models, and discusses their impacts on the final translation results. The following conclusions are drawn via case analysis. The ethics of representation, service, commitment, and norm-based ethics of Chesterman’s translation ethics theory are mainly reflected by the behaviors of interpreters.Meanwhile, the ethics of communication involves interpreters, speakers, clients, and organizers of the event. Therefore, interpreters ought to accept translation tasks within their competence, make comprehensive pre-task preparations, and adjust translation approaches due to practical needs,so that to follow the requests posed by the ethics of reproduction, service, commitment, and norm-based ethics. In addition, speakers, clients and event organizers should participate in the translation activity based on the ethics of communication. They should take part in selecting qualified interpreters, communicating in time on translation problems during the events, and taking post-event measures to ensure the final effect of translation.By doing so,they can jointly promote the smooth progress of translation activities.
