A Study Of Wu Minshu’s Travel Poems

Baling Wu Minshu was famous for his prose and Confucian classics in the late Qing Dynasty,but his poetry was also good.There are many times marks in his poems,among which there are more than 300 travel poems.At present,the academic research on Wu Minshu mainly focuses on ancient poetry and prose.Although some papers and works have noticed the function of Wu Minshu’s poetry in scenery and travel,there is a lack of special research on Wu Minshu’s travel poems.Wu Minshu’s travel poems contain rich themes such as study,examination,xiadi,refuge,official travel and travel.They record the poet’s experiences in many aspects,such as going to the north for examination,xiadi returning to the south,taking refuge in disaster,serving in a foreign country,visiting local and foreign scenic spots.They reflect the poet’s life track,experience and feelings,as well as the historical events of the poet’s time and the local mountains and landforms.Wu Minshu’s travel experience is influenced by his personal will and the factors of the times,and has obvious traces in his travel poems.In each period of his life,the change of Wu Minshu’s mental process greatly promoted the change of his style of travel poems.Wu Minshu’s travel poems show his interest in enjoying mountains and rivers and wandering in the mountains and rivers.In the interaction with the natural time and space,they produce communication and collision.Wu Min Shu lived in a time when the whole Chinese nation was turning from prosperity to decline.Social contradictions and turmoil occurred frequently.He reflected the sufferings of the people’s livelihood through his travel poems,praised the healthy spirit and exposed the darkness.In addition,during the festival,his poems are full of wandering feeling,full of attachment to hometown and missing of relatives.The most prominent artistic feature of Wu Minshu’s travel poems is narrative function.In addition to the narrative nature of the poems themselves,the narrative nature of the poems’ titles,prefaces and notes is highlighted to fully show the travel function of the poems.Secondly,although he learned from the ancients,he did not blindly worship and imitate.He paid attention to drawing on and absorbing the essence of ancient poetry,especially Huang Tingjian.His travel poems embody the features of reasoning,allusion and colloquialism,and increase the depth and strength of poetry with the help of language expression.Finally,wuminshu’s chronicle poems show strong regional cultural characteristics of Hunan,and their regionalism makes wuminshu unique in Qing poetry of the same period.
